I have your solution. I am a programmer for a corporate office in a New Jersey bank. I have developed a remote application that I use for my clients. There's also VNC, Remote Desktop, Remote Assistance, Dameware, PC Anywhere, etc for connecting remotely. We use Dameware at work to connect remotely and I use Remote Desktop to connect from work to home.

Trouble is that if someone is behind a router, the port (for which ever application you use) has to be forwarded to the necessary PC.

 

no port fowarding is needing with my setup. Only thing needed is an internet connction.

 

And, of course a hole in the firewall.... right?

 

wrong - my application contacts my server so without the client actually asking for a connection with myself - one cant be made.

I am a security buff - I dont keep holes - i fix them.
