At toyota, waiting on my car to get detailed chillin lookin at an Avalon Pamphlet when this guy comes up and he's like "Hey man, whatchu got under the hood?" And I know the Scion guy up there so i'm kinda surfin the net on one of their computers...I look up and i'm like "nothing". He keeps on, like "whatchu got it lowered with?" To which i replied some springs...He says "man i'll bet if you put on a air intake you could get pretty quick!"

And you know at this point i'm thinking "get the F away from me dude"

He goes on to say " If you put on an air intake you can gain around 20 horses"

And i just act all nice, like suuuuure.



What is it with people they see a K&N intake filter ad and believe that they can really gain 20 horsepower with just an intake?????

OMFG! Sorry just felt like venting, I hate the stupidity.

Opinions? anyone ever have similar situations where someone thinks they know alot about cars and you just kind of have to smile and nod, but you know much better?

car salesmen don't know jack anyway. I had one in Chicago tell me a Matrix XRS is AWD and 6spd. Like no!!!!

 

this dude wasnt no car salesman, but it does make me mad when a car salesman has no clue about cars....I understand its just a job, and they are just tryin to put bread on the table every night just like everyone else in the world, but why cant the major companies train their people on more than just how to sit in the back seat and memorize the tag on the cars gas mileage????

My job is to handle fuel...Imagine if somebody asked me what is that fuel/whats its characteristics and i had no clue.....same thing applies to a car salesman. they had better know their cars inside and out, and know a little more...

PS--IF the Matrix was AWD and a 6spd i'd buy it...LOL

reminds me of when one of my co-workers was telling me that a Toyota salesman said the xB had a Matrix engine in it.

 

maybe the guy was just trying to pick you up.........ya know, start off with the small talk, before he makes ya bust out the salad bowl.

 

I just hate stupid people! Ha, that's probably exactly what the person thinks about me when I wanna share what little I know about some subject not realizing that im speaking to a genius.

 

I'm no genius dude...but i have been around the block with cars a couple times or so...

Are you SERIOUS!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Omg, that just made me laugh like no one's business. I do agree though, about people not knowing anything about cars ... oh well. I don't even really know a lot about cars so I let a lot of things slide. Plus, my dad's a mechanic, so I let him handle most of that ... but I am learning and if I don't know something for real, I won't normally say anything, unless I really feel like saying something. Oh well. And daaang, let's not hate on all salesmen, b/c the guy that sold me my tC knew a crap load about it and answered all my questions (which were numerous) correctly.

 

next time a guy does this to you just be like "come here baby" and lick your lips then you'll know for sure

Actually, a KN Filter can give a car 20 hp or more, just not on any Scion that I know of. That guy obviously didn't know what he was talking about.

HAAAHA LOL that ish reminds me of the mustang vtec video, where the guy starts sayin he has the green fluid so it gives his vtec and xtra boost, and that honda specially made his motor with two four cylinders put together! LOOL am i the only one who remembers that vid?
