I'm sure most of you know this already but for those of you who are more timid about modding your car check this out:

this is pretty spot on with the law as far as i've checked.
I'm prolly gonna get flame about this being in some subtext of a locked off topic cafe post from 2005 already but i didnt happen to see it after searching.

Great to see it in writing.
But 3 years, 36000 miles... goes QUICK. I'm already out of warranty on a 06 tC with 54K.
It's all gravy though, I don't expect it to fall apart. She isn't throwing out the warning signs of age yet.

possibly the most important thing on the page
"unless the warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle’s warranty or if it can be proven that the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure"
i have not read my warranty but i know some car warranties are voided if you mod your car.[/b]

it is nice when a dealer can step up and acknowledge something like this, but very few dealers will and everything is a case by case situation. whether the dealer knows about the mod being a problem, a toyota regional rep may not be as nice.

yea but really the second you mod your car in anyway outside of TRD parts, you take the risk&reward scenario. I dunno i met a Toyota rep that was helping out my friend and he seemed pretty laid back, then again its all about the personality lottery really
