sorry to burst your buble but it doesnt matter if the car is rear or front wheel drive, wings are for downforce which in turn effects handling.THAT wing probably does not serve any purpose, it probably creates more drag then downforce. So whether the car is front or rear wheel drive gt wings are used to create more downforce for grip, aero dynamics play a huge part in pro racing and that cliche misconception about a car being fwd doesnt need a wing is starting to annoy me. lol. not flaming you im just saying. now fwd cars might not need rear downforce as much because of their drive dynamics but its not correct to say they never need one.

that was a TSX A-Spec 05 concept car

the real A-Spec doesnt have a redic wing on it

most FWD platforms are converted to RWD to race thats why a lot of them sport wings

 

haha, that wasnt a concept car man, thats the Team Realtime tsx that they actually race. lol so your allowed to convert your car to rwd when you must race in a strict set of class rules? i think not. those races in which that TSX competes arent just open class track days at your local stomping grounds, its competitive so there are rules like i said.

3.2 liter 6 speed manual transverse mounted FF makes for some mad understeer which is the reason why most but not all convert

is the wing functional, to a certain point maybe but the wing on the back of that stang is not (agreed) and most riced out cars with wings are not. Most GT style wings dont even do anything becasue there not high enough off the deck to hit in the right zone of the air coming off the roof

Most wings on FWD cars are for show and look ricey

If you think about it any car with an air-dam, spoiler, flares or ground kit fits the definition of rice as it wasn't until the late 60s that these things started showing up on cars and now they are factory pieces on many cars (still technically rice)...

...but we all are looking foir minute rice (so to speak)-tacky

 

 

you wouldnt get unbearable understeer in fwd if you know how to flippin drive and you have your suspension set up to spec for your car. my bad though i stand corrected on the fact that it was a concept at the time i misunderstood. but maybe some are converted to rwd for open class but most cars like that stick with the spec rules, thats the whole point is to push the limits of the cars of that class. wouldnt make sense to say that ooh ill get understeer and just not race fwd. thats like saying oop i get oversteer in rwd so lets all convert to awd. there wouldnt be any class what so ever if you have that kind of philosophy and everyone would be racing awd. what im saying is that each car has its own dynamics, you race a certain way and take certain lines for fwd and have different suspension then you would on rwd. the only events i can think where that conversion is needed is drifting but you have cars for that as it is, you wouldnt really start w a tsx in the first place lol. and that Real Time tsx is FWD just built motor w higher compression and sequential 6 speed trans and all the other stuff.

1 thing is agreed, if you drive on the street you dont need and damn aftermarket wing for aero because it is rice, but the misconception of fwd cars not needing one on the track and such is what was peeving me lol. im done thread jacking sorry yall. and im not flaming at all so dont take it personal.
