Default Stolen Credit Card Number Scam

I just want to key everyone in on this. A huge scam is going on right now. Im not saying that it was because of something I had bought here recently but I have recently bought a few things for my car in the past month. On 3/19 I found out that someone had stolen my credit card number and sold it to a company in NV. People Check your accounts for a $429 dollar charge on your accounts make sure you havent been hit by this.

It could be someone hacked their systems and stole all the credit card info off of it. The companies would never know that it happened either.

It happens a lot more than you think.

Oh I am sure it does obviously by just typing the 1888 number into google just wondering if there is a correlation and maybe we can let the company know they have been hacked

Yep, got me too! First a $1 charge followed by $429. The company that charged it was called Identity Protect(1800-865-1164). That number comes up w/ the same thing as the other number. I already have all of the paperwork filed and the money is back in my account but still....WTF?! I called the company in NV and they told me that their phone number was being used to run the cards so they were being screwed as well. Not sure how much truth is in that. Not blaming anyone(yet anyway) but I have also made purchases to vertexracing.com and superbrightleds.com in the last couple of months. If I remember right these were the only 2 payments I made w/out using Paypal. Hmm....not cool!! Either way a lot of people nation wide are getting screwed.

Last year, someone attempted to place a $9,000 charge on my credit card right after I purchased my cold air intake with that same card. This was the only purchase I made on that card, and the fraudulent charge was attempted 4 or 5 days later. This kind of crap does happen, and there isn't really any way to protect yourself when you think you are dealing with a secure, legitimate retailer.

Sucks for y'all, but even if the charge went through, you will be able to have it removed from your account by opening a dispute and waiting a couple of months.
