I'm seeing B of A, Wells Fargo, Citi, and more. Seems like it can happen to anyone. I wish we could figure out how this scam originates. The scammers must be getting your details somehow.

I got hit for the $1 and $429 as well, they got my debit card #...and it was for "Identity Protect" as well

AND I got the paperwork from the company in the mail a few days later thanking me for signing up for their service. I immediately took it to my bank to add to the investigation.

Scary stuff!

Anything that starts out with a $1 charge is a blatant scam. That's the oldest trick in the book. No legitimate company would start by running a $1 charge just to check if your card is valid before billing the full amount.

That should at least make it pretty easy to resolve the problem and have the charges reversed, but I wonder why someone hasn't put a stop to this scam after so many months. Sounds like these guys have been doing the same thing since December.

Hmm, I didn't get this $1 charge like some others did. But I did get the $429 charge for "Identity Protect" like everyone else.

Well, after a few weeks, everything is cleared up for me However, it was still a pain in the ****...I'm pretty curious how they're getting the information too...

Same ish is happening to me right now. I've had 2 charges of $429 by a company called IDENTITY PROTECT. My card is frozen right now until these charges get disputed.

Same exact thing happened to me on 3/17 - I called my bank (Wells Fargo) and opened a dispute. A few days ago, my bank put the $430 credit back into my account.

Still, what a bunch of bull____!

I already have all of the paperwork filed and the money is back in my account but still....WTF?! I called the company in NV and they told me that their phone number was being used to run the cards so they were being screwed as well. Not sure how much truth is in that. Not blaming anyone(yet anyway) but I have also made purchases to vertexracing.com and superbrightleds.com in the last couple of months. If I remember right these were the only 2 payments I made w/out using Paypal. Hmm....not cool!! Either way a lot of people nation wide are getting screwed.
I got hit by the same damn 'ID protect' thing WTF!! The charge came from Reno, NV. I'm wells fargo...

And I didn't buy from those sites either...
I got hit with that too on my Chase credit card....I was ____ed. They bought a computer terminal and medical coverage...800 bucks all together..

It would be nice to know what retailer was affected. I guess we will never know. What online stores did you most recently purchase from with that card?
