the shopping scanner is NUTS! i would never have thought of it! the phone is really some serious competition for the iphone, i have the iphone and was seriously jealous of my bro's G1! gotta give google props for that one

 

all i have to say
the G1 is one Sexy phone!
if they unlock it
(by they i mean anybody)
i might just give up my iPhone for it

Looks awful, I agree with that. However I love the idea that it is running linux rather than windows mobile / windows CE

Ones that I want that are running windows mobile / windows CE though are the HTC Touch Diamond and the HTC Touch Pro. If the pro comes out soon, I will get it, if not I am getting the Touch Diamond soon.

 

The phone is not running on linux.

But the HTC Touch Pro is a sick phone but I don't think it will be out anytime soon. I know the Touch Diamond tho is out for Sprint...

The OS on any of the new HTC phones imo beats g1 and iphone, but its major down fall is that it has a resistive touch feature, unlike the capacitive in the iphone and g1, although the g1 doesnt feature multitouch. That means you have to press down on the screen to connect two members of the screen to touch, unlike just touching and having an instant reaction like the g1 n iphone.

The g1 lacks in design also, its not as attractive as an iphone, but the iphone isnt attractive either, the HTC's opn the other hand are gorgeous. Also the G1 could have been more creative in the OS department, too plain for my taste, the mp3 player is mondane, and the main menu is kinda plain, its 2008 and with the iphone out there they really need to step up their game, if you could post screen shot of the menu, w a background then my statement would be false, all the pics ive seen are just a black back drop, too plain. Maybe the g2 will actually give the iphone a run for its money, you just cant beat having an ipod, with coverflow, on a phone!

So far nothing will come close to the Iphone.. Its an OG..Sorry replicas.. I bought the G1 for my lady and its all right ,not impressed and I've already unlocked it.

i hear that the g1 isnt all that..

 

they brought this phone out to compete directly with blackberry and iphone but they are lacking the biggest component to compete with those devices and that is the ability to access corporate email. so for me it can have all the cool features it does but it would be worthless to me bcuz it lacks that access i would need.
