Toyota Mark II
theyre pretty nice cars. basically 4 door supra. luxurious , features abound , same motor. both can handle close to the same amount of hp. both are heavy.
the mkIII supra's chassis can hold about 500 hp the cressida's normally around 400.
common swaps are the supra's 7mgTe turbo motor , or the ever popular jdm 1jzgte.

ya i wanna get one for a project and put in a 1jz with that kit and do the conversion and everything. My neighbor had one but i wonder if he sold it hmmmm..... any suggestions what specific year to buy in that margin 89-92? and any good web sites or shops for parts? cause im looking for something to drift and i wanted something bigger like that either 4 door or make a soarer out of an lexus sc.
you got a nice plan just never let any cop pop yer hood ever.
any year is good. if you plan on swapping the motor miles shouldnt matter too much just make sure the chassis has less than 150k unless you wanna go through the car upgrading every single bushing and then some.
get a clean 89 or 90. maybe cheaper than a clean 92.

oh in cali the rule is you can swap any motor into your car as long as the motor is the same year or newer then the vehicle and as long as it has all the smog equipment and its stock. Then you get it inspected by state ref for engine change, when it passes he stamps the door with what the proper smog equipment is you need to use then your home free to register.... WHEW. =) lotta reading just for that tid bit of info heheh and lets hope it hasnt changed =/

only if the engine is available in america. and not a single 1jz ever had any smog equipment at all.
oh and I know cause i tried swapping a 1jz into my mkIII supra
really? why not japanese motors? arent they only missing like some vacuum lines and a cat? and did you try going to the state ref? cause in the laws themselves they dont specifically state it cant be a foreign motor. and if this is the way it is then 2jz it is =)
2jz is an insane amount of work to make it fit.
the 1jz has no egr , as well as a few other smog related systems .
I got reffed with a jdm 7mge in my mkIII they didnt even know the engine had been changed..... but It looked stock and I re-used my usdm egs fittings.
you could try and modify 2jz egr stuff to fit a 1jz but i'd say good luck sir. good luck.

hmmm, is there a power difference between the jdm 7mge and the USDM 7mge? Because thats lookin like the option right now, unless.... well we all know. Why is the 2jz so hard to do? isnt it the same size as a 1j? specially if you made it single snail. i dont know. we'l see, but i still wanna do it none the less i think.
from what i've read yes and no. I honestly do not know which is true. whatever you do when you get it check the bearing , change the oil , filter , and make sure the head isn't cracked from shipping/storage. oh and make sure the oil pan is correct. I ended up with a cressida motor where the oil sump is in the middle. . for the supra it needs to be in the rear.
