Default top dead center and timing chain alignment question

I recently replaced the sprocket on my camshaft. I made sure the timing chain marks were at top dead center when I removed the sprockets and loosened the tensioner on the timing chain. I noted where these marks aligned with the sprockets and they did not align with the timing chain marks. When I replaced the sprockets I made sure to align the timing chain marks correctly. How do I know if this is really top dead center? Should I look in cylinder 1 and measure the piston height? I'm worried that the timing chain marks on the timing chain were'nt properly aligned from the factory and that now I may be setting it all up incorrectly. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I went ahead and made a video because I found very little info out there. This is for the p0012 repair but can help with a few different things if you watch all three parts
part 1
part 2
Part 3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiJi...ature=youtu.be
