A friend of mine bought a 1993 supra for $5,000. Without the motor or tranny, body was in great condition except for a dint on the passanger side.
When he replaced the body pannel with the dent, and bought a used motor and tranny with 10,000 miles on it, his total cost was $16,000.
It's not about a supra being $25,000, its about finding a good deal when its there. You have to do your research but you can a Supra under $20,000. He searched for about six months straight until he came across the body. Interior was near perfect condition, and the body except for the dent was in great condition. Just need to be waxed and took care of.
As for the Skyline, you can buy a skyline without a motor and tranny at a very reasonable cost and have it shipped over. Then later find and ship a motor/tranny.
With cars like these, its generally a lot cheaper to do it in stages vs. trying to find a whole car. The biggest cost overall is insurance. As far as importing cars, there are loop holes but you have to do a lot of research before you do something like that. My friend with the supra is paying a lot for insurance, buts not as bad as he thought he would be paying.
