Default traffic ticket question...

i got pulled over the other day for my tints, but i noticed on the ticket he wrote the wrong plate number... does that automatically get dismissed? should i put not guilty then?

Did he get everything else wrong? If he just wrote the wrong tag but everything else matches you and your car then your chances are almost none. Why not just remove your tints and then on your court date apologize to the court and let the judge know you have removed the tint. That's more likely to have it dismissed (or just reduced to court costs).

I got something like that once. Although mine was a parking ticket and it was all the wrong information. I think somebody took it off their car and put it on mine hoping I would pay it.

If your name and address are correct I'm sure that's all they need. I wouldn't risk not paying the ticket.

Is your drivers license number and name correct? If so, I think you should pay the ticket. It is only a fine

Also make sure the plate number is REALLY wrong. Handwriting can be horrible sometimes.

Just pay the fine. If you go in there and start saying "this and that" it will only make it worse. Not worse an in more fines. But alot of times the judge will reduce the fine for you. I have had alot and I mean alot of window tint tickets and learned. Just pay it and be on your way or remove it and try and get out of it that way. Hope that helps.

if ur court system is anything like it is here in florida, all u have to do is set it for trial, take a pic of your car without the tints from many different angles and just show the pics. they just dismiss it after that and ur free to go.

Or go to court and hope the cop doesn't show up. Charges dropped.

That will not always work. Depending on the state, the charge, etc, the judge may not be so easy to let someone go like that.

MA abolished the law stating that the ticketing officer must be present. Thats no longer required until it goes to trial. All hearings before then, a magistrate to the court is assigned by the Police department to represent them. His only job is to sit in court and hear cases all day......god hope you dont go last!

If the license plate is wrong, then you are fine. Just go to the courthouse and hand in the ticket and speak to some one.

Take it from me, I've been pulled over 33 times (yea i keep count) and have gotten 19 tickets, all of which are photocopied and pinned up in my room.

Dont stress about it, just make sure you speak to someone from the district where they wrote the ticket. I got out of a no-front licsence plate that way.

I've had about 9-10 tickets now and have beat all but two of them by just pleading not guilty and hoping the cop doesnt show up. Not having lights turned on, and the other was speeding. Only 4 of the tickets were actually car related though, the others were for when I used to have my Go-Ped. I got caught on Radar speeding on my Go-Ped 37 in a 25 zone, and the other tickets were for no helmet and stuff like that...I was 17 when i got them.

I had something similar something to this happen to me.

I was driving to work in Malibu for the first time, ran through a stop I didn't see, and got pulled over by a hidden cop. He wrote the whole ticket, and as he's ripping it off the ledger he says "Oh ****, I wrote the wrong city. It's your lucky day." He then proceeded to rip the ticket up.
