speaking of rebuilding, hows your project coming along hieu?

 

well...my car is running really good right now...I think I'll hold off on the trade...at least until the scion/subi car is released...

iv been thinking the same thing, depending on when im finished paying this one off which should be about the time the replacement tc comes out if indeed it does.

 

so whats going on with it?.......still on the hunt for an engine?

 

x2! cant wait what that car can do.. if im upgrading i want something not too common, i was thinking evo, sti, nissan Zs and all are nice but theyre kinda over played imo

Well...passed smog again today! Went to the same spot, but a different guy was there. I was concerned because he popped the hood of the guy in front of me. NO WAY could I pass a visual...till I saw HIS car. Old a$$ Porche 944, all primered/bondo with big ol exhaust...he obviosly worked in it himself...so I was sure to stike up a conversation about it with him, commenting on the car and the workmanship, and how my dad use to have a 944 (true)

Then he popped the hood...and paused...and paused...and closed the hood. "OK, your good to go" he says!

PASS!

nice.....we dont have smog checks but they do pop the hood though.....i cringed when they popped my hood and looked...i started to prepare myself to get rejected but they passed it...i laughed my **** off as i drove home

 

you guys know all they are looking for is a air cleaner of some sorts and an o2 sensor/exhaust right?

but yea they only check for smog items

 

they check for your cats too...after all our primary cat is supposed to be on the header. they looked under my car too but i guess they thought the resonator on the megan mid was a cat....lol

 

yup, cats too. but turbo is okay

 

i was scared that it might make them scrutinize my ride more since it doesn't exactly look stock.

They scaned...I got no codes. aem f/ic has an 02 spoofer.

They didn't look under my car, and an aftermarket exhaust is OK, but I think most cars have the primary cat right after the headers, so when you look at ours, you can see there is no cat there. I have no cats at all...no resonators...no nothing...just the injen axleback and a custom 2.5 straight pipe connectig it to my 2.5 downpipe.

I wouldn't pass CARB, but that's why I moved outa california! (not really)

 

i had cats in my engine before too.. cauzing detonation.

 

yup...gotta get rid of those cats...
