Congrats. And just a bit of heads up find a sergeant or a corporal basically some one who has been in a while and are pretty chill and hang out with them and learn from them. Because all that retarded high school stuff from boot camp is still going to be going on trust me.

advancement, lol. their quality of life is great but some jobs, infact most jobs in the AF take forever to advance. i guarantee you wouldn't have gotten the deal you got as far as your promotions. money isn't everything, but it is a bonus. lol if you chose a MOS that has plenty of billets at AFBs the you should be good to go. i love the AF quality of life and how they take their peoples' opinions into account though; the Navy is close behind for taking their juniors people thoughts and ideas into consideration. Army and Marines, however.........

^^oh man that sucks, but at least you made it. have you been to the fleet yet?

wolf, i came into the Navy when the AF rode the bikes for PRT. I was so mad about that until I came to Miami and a retired AF MSgt told me the bike was harder than running for slim people, but a breeze for the "fatboy club".

No I don't finish with school till the end of April or early May. It's fine with me I knew they wouldn't advance me any ways. It just means P&A points for me. I should be taking it again here in March so hopefully I will get it then.

Wow i didn't know they did it like that. Is it different if you're a fleet returnee? We had an IS3 striker that picked up IS2 while in A school, so I'm trying to understand it I guess.

Just another bit of advice volunteer for a leadership position if they offer it for your A school class (class leader, assistant class leader). You will more than likely have to put up with high school bs but at least you will be in a position to do something about it and it will help you to get promoted quicker.

lol, nuke, he's Army. there is not much "volunteer" in the Army at his rank, it's pretty much ALL "volun-told". lol, granted there are some things that he may be able to volunteer for, but it's not the same as the Navy or AF.

That said though, I wouldn't be surprised if they already made him class leader since he's coming in as an e-4

I signed up for the Army as well and I leave for Ft. Benning on Jan. 14.

Can't wait to get started. I put in my packet for an officer, though. I just have to do good to get higher on the OML. I'll be going through OCS at Benning as well. So for the first 6 months, at least, Ft. Benning will be my home and escape from the Chicago cold.

I would like MI or MP.

I chose the Army because I think with the sheer size and needs of the Army, promotions and opportunities should come along more often than the smaller branches.

I got decent scores on the ASVAB and GT. Did my interview with a Major and a couple of Captains, the interview was actually easier than some of the police board interviews that I've done.

As for the Marines, they have a warrior mentality, it's a whole different culture with those guys. Nothing wrong with it, they're bad dudes. But like everything in the world, they have their share of jerks.
