i agree with you hotbox, everyone gets so caught up in stars' personal lives and not focusing on there art. for all of those who posted how much they hate fifty, i cant picture you in the club and the new fifty song starts playing, and your like "yeah, im gonna sit this one out cause he thinks he is a thug and likes money" i dont care if kanye is a ***** and cries everytime he doesnt get his own way, im still gonna buy his cd because i like his rapping/producing style.

Well, leov36, you can picture me not dancing to fifty or kanye. If I hear it on the radio, see them on tv, or hear it where ever I may be I do my best to avoid it.

Im sorry but I just hate when ppl call that kind of music art.

A Orchestra with 100 members all in synch playing Pachabel is Art.

Not some buffoon rapping words to a simplistic computer-generated beat.

You can do that, I can do that.

Not art in any shape or form......face it

mainstream music today isnt art.

its uninspired and computer-generated.

dont get me wrong i love mainstream music, but to call it art, is going out on a limb.

I'll probably pick up both, I've been a fan of them both since day 1. Kanye, as arrogant as he is, can actually back it up behind the mic.

Maybe not so much of an art as it is a skill. Have you ever tried to make a "Computerized Beat" Try sitting in front of a Motif6, a DR5 Drum Machine a computer program say like Magix Music maker or Frooty Loops and tell me how simplistic it is to compose a computer-generated beat.

well as an avid listener to hip-hop/rap/crap/ or whatever else some people like to call it......50 cent and Kanye believe it or not cater to different crowds. 50's lyrics are much different than kanye's and so therefore some listeners will say 50's songs are trash because they may not be able to relate. kanye was raised in upper middle class, his dad was politically acitive as a black panther, so he has a totally different background than 50 did. 50, is your stereotypical rapper who was shot a few times, sold some crack, got alotta $$omething from nothing.

from my friends, i can tell that girls would prefer kanye's songs such as "good life"..."gold digger" over 50's "My gun go off" or "I still Kill". Guys are a lil more open to all types. and their beats are TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Long story short, i like 50 better because i don't like Kanye's genre of rap. i know, funny, some people laugh at genre's of rap. (listen to some snap, lean, rock, pop southern rap if still in doubt).

dude its pretty ignorrant to say what art is, art is in the eye/ear of the beholder. Have you been to your local museum lately? you every seen some of those paintings with random color splashed all over them. Well to me that looks like utter crap, like you would say "anybody can do that", but to alot it is, and im not here to tell them its not.

I have never liked 50 Cent, especially after his fight with the West Coasts' best MC, THE GAME. I will never support Fiddy. However, I love K. West. I love his huge ego, and his music always slaps. Track 1 and 13 are my fav on Graduation. I got on release date, yesterday, and he had sold about half the shelf and no one had picked up any of 50's album. 50 your done.

yes this cd is sick like i thought it knew it would be it sucks that there wasnt any skit but im sure he'll take out an LP version or something asfar as the cardboard cover he did it so u can see the art work was done by Takashi Murakami
one of the worlds top artis right now one of his 5x5 paintings sell for over $1,000,000.00 so the art work on the cd is worht more then the cd its self

Rap music......... Its not really rap music anymore its more like how should I phrase this................? Hip-pop?
If 2pac and Biggie were still in the game we would have never even heard of 50 or Kanye for the matter, there both a joke, 2pac would never have a hissy fit about not winning a VMA like Kanye did a true "gangster" wouldnt cry like a baby because he didnt win an award at a show that has entertainers like Britney Spears and Fall out boys, and I highly doubt 2pac or biggie would release a single with Justin Timberlake.
The fact of the matter is that rap music really has gone down the toilet and its gonna take
more then 50 cent or Kanye to bring life back to it.

Only good hip hop is underground...give me some Del, Jaylib, Madvillian, Swollen Members, Ugly Duckling, Tha 'Liks, Loot Pack, Ill Bill, High & Mighty, Kool Keith (and his 5 jillion alias), Blueprint, Med, Jedi Mind Tricks, etc...etc...etc...and I'm cool. There's still good rap/hip hop out there, you just have to find it. And NO, you won't find it on mainstream radio.

Gangster rap died with Pac and Biggie, but Hip-Hop doesn't thrive in Kanye, nor Fitty. Pick up some KRS-One and hear that Hip-Hop isn't done.

Only good NEW hip hop is underground. The VH1 honors tour should be good with the roots, bdk and mc lyte.
