In my many years, i have discovered a lot of ignorant people, who... for a lack of a better phrasing... "aint got no idear what they talkin bout when it comesto NASCAR" The majority of the people that badmouth NASCAR have never seen it on TV nor have they been to a race. "NO-Its nothing more than drunk Rednecks watching cars go around in circles for 3 hours" is the response i got from someone i know here in orlando if he has ever watched it... and frankly i got tired of that response... sofi gured that i would share my photos from this past weekends Pepsi 400 with everyone. with the hopes that if you feel that way, and have no idea what NASCAR is about, would flip on a broadcast and watch for 10 minutes...

I am sure it was alot of fun. I've been to alot of nascar races, and your right, until you go and see one you have no idea. But Dayonta and Bristol are on my list of track to visit one day. Living in charlotte, its nearly impossable to get away from nascar.
I've never done the infeild thing. But I've sat in the Speedway Club in charlotte several times.

All I saw in those pics were a bunch of Rednecks waiting for cars to run in circles for 3 hours, especially the 4x4 segway's ...
Rednecks are getting with the times, now as you drive by redneck america you'll see segways in front of thier homes up on bricks ...
J/K ... I have much respect for the sport, it's technology and to tell you the truth, next year when the TOYOTA CAMRY hits Nascar, alot is going to change.
Great Pics, hope you had a great time.

nothing like being there. been to the CA speedway twice for nascar and once for the cart bumblebees. fun times.
although at the ca speedway, walking the outside switchback ramp to the top is gnarley...i'm afraid of heights. me and my buddy were walking as far from the edge so we didn't have to look down and it's an exterior mounted aluminum switchback that goes up way too many stories and the whole thing moves with the wind. we laugh about it now that we were looking back at one another going "are you freakin' kidding me? screw this!"
but there is nothing like nascar in person. yeah, okay, they only turn left but it's way fun in person.

racing on tv is alright, but nothing like seeing a race in person. I've been to Michigan; standing by turn 1 during happy hour when they fly by you, concrete shaking..... that's a rush. Pit/garage passes are cool if you can pull them, but probably more so in the past when there were less restrictions.
they may be a bunch of "rednecks" in the average person's eyes ( though many drivers now aren't originally from the south ); but you'll get a higher % of drivers to sign something or stop & say hi; try that with some of the pro sport athletes...
ok, not all are perfect, but they do seem far more accessable then others...
heck take a look at your local track during an off week, odds are one of the big boys may be in your area for some local fun ( we just had Stewart & Kenseth up by us for a nite of racing )....
my .02

Seeing race drivers around here really isn't that big of a deal. I can tell you a couple places to eat lunch, that you can almost always find at least one driver.
Nascar is kind of funny, since 99% of them live north of charlotte. They all fly private jets in and out of concord nc. So when we have our scion meets in concord, we watch the gulf streams come out of concord every 2 minutes. Alot of drivers will spend saturday night at home.... fly out sunday AM and race, then sleep at home sunday night.
