Default What do you do w/your old computers & vista ?'s

I built the computer I'm currently using back in 04. Still works great. I mostly use it for internet and media stuff. A co-worker bought a new computer, because a ex co-worker told him there was something wrong with it when he tried fixing it for him. Well long story short. I picked up the computer for next to nothing and it works fine.

Its a HP m7580n. I want to upgrade the video card, so it has DVI/HDMI.
Would it be worth while upgrading to windows vista, too?

What do you with your old computers? Most of the stuff I use it for can be done on the HP. I can't really sell it. I won't get much for it and plus its been riced out worse than a civic.

If you have XP on it, don't bother going to Vista. I won't get on some rant about it or anything, but XP is perfectly fine.

As for old PCs... if you want want it anymore, wipe the hdd and either part it out (if there's anything worth selling) and then contact your county offices for proper disposal. Our area does a electronic parts drop off every year that we can dispose of anything like that for no cost.

Well as of right now. It doesn't have XP on it. I'm waiting for the XP discs for it. Theres a strong possiblity that I might not get them, though. I just wasn't sure if vista was worth it now. I should be able to hit up the tech guys at work if I can't get them from him.

If you can't get XP, Vista would be OK. I would just prefer XP... but you use what you can get.

Yeah I was going to stick with XP regaurdless if I couldn't get the orginal discs.

I've only used vista on my sisters laptop and I wasn't that impressed. I thought maybe, because it was on a laptop I wasn't getting the right opinion on it. My co-worker can't stop talking about how he likes over XP. So, I thought maybe I should give it a chance.

If you can find a clean copy of xp pro.. beg borrow or steal it.
vista is just way too bloated with garbage that you will never use, hence the memory/hard drive hogging. or as a last resort convert to linux.. has its limitations but is rather slick
