Now I'm big into a lot of local boys like The Acacia Strain, Diecast, Full Blown Chaos, All That Remains, Hatebreed, and Ligeia not to mention As Blood Runs Black, Misery Signals, Remembering Never, As I Lay Dying, Most Precious Blood, All Out War, Dead To Fall, Glass Casket, Converge, Throwdown, Between The Buried And Me, Poison The Well, Blood For Blood, Scars Of Tomorrow, old Atreyu, old From Autumn To Ashes, Bury Your Dead, Death Before Dishonor, and the list goes on and on. I even listen to a lot of the "screamo/emo" stuff cause that's what my girl is into like Greeley Estates, A Thorm For Every Heart, Silverstein, Thursday, Underoath, Thrice, Funeral For A Friend, Hawthorne Heights, From First To Last, My American Heart, on and on.
Man you get me started on this and I'll go all day. I'm all about this ____e. I'm always goin to hardcore shows in Springfield, Worcester, or Boston cause I think hardcore music, and to a small extent, screamo/emo, has one of the best all around music scenes regardless of whether you're into the music or not. Everyone is so friendly and there is always a community atmosphere to the shows especially since they play smaller venues. Unless of course you get the tough guys who get in the pit and think they're badass. Those clowns don't quite get it and well that's a whole other story.

Haha thanks bro. She knows it's not my cup of tea but I'll go to shows with her and enjoy myself plenty. She hates listening to some of my stuff so it's somewhat of a compromise on road trips.
And you're very correct when you say that many people don't realize that "emo" has been around for so long and that real emo goes back about 12-15 years. That's part of the reason why labelling things as emo today bothers me, not to mention how corny it sounds.

That was why I was pumped about someone mentioning Rites of Spring. They are responsible for the emo genre....but they were good.
End of Line was a local band for me. The guys that were in it grew up a few blocks from me.

They rock out, put on an absolutely incredible show (who loves fire more than Rammstein? :D) and are truthfull and insightfull in their (thankfully) rare political statements.
Wow, this post just reminds me how ____ty some peoples taste in music is, lol...speaking of, check out http://www.youhavebadtasteinmusic.com for some GREAT videos. (no joke)
Ok Dave, Ima bring this thread back.
Anybody listen to Puya? Latin rock..... well, rocks. If you guys aren't familiar with Puya, I reccomend checking 'em out. I have no idea what the songs are about, but they will get up pumped up.
Some traditional Latin sounds, some "screamo," some heavy rock.

go to http://www.myspace.com/coldharmony listen to Venom. It's my stepson's band and they rock pretty good. I do believe they're split up at the moment but the drummer and guitarist are decent, not to mention my kid's singing!!
Personally, i can't get enough of TOOL. About the hardest i go is Kittie and some Lamb of God.
