Now I'm big into a lot of local boys like The Acacia Strain, Diecast, Full Blown Chaos, All That Remains, Hatebreed, and Ligeia not to mention As Blood Runs Black, Misery Signals, Remembering Never, As I Lay Dying, Most Precious Blood, All Out War, Dead To Fall, Glass Casket, Converge, Throwdown, Between The Buried And Me, Poison The Well, Blood For Blood, Scars Of Tomorrow, old Atreyu, old From Autumn To Ashes, Bury Your Dead, Death Before Dishonor, and the list goes on and on. I even listen to a lot of the "screamo/emo" stuff cause that's what my girl is into like Greeley Estates, A Thorm For Every Heart, Silverstein, Thursday, Underoath, Thrice, Funeral For A Friend, Hawthorne Heights, From First To Last, My American Heart, on and on.

Man you get me started on this and I'll go all day. I'm all about this ____e. I'm always goin to hardcore shows in Springfield, Worcester, or Boston cause I think hardcore music, and to a small extent, screamo/emo, has one of the best all around music scenes regardless of whether you're into the music or not. Everyone is so friendly and there is always a community atmosphere to the shows especially since they play smaller venues. Unless of course you get the tough guys who get in the pit and think they're badass. Those clowns don't quite get it and well that's a whole other story.
Poisen the Well is awesome live. Everyone was moshin when I saw them. Great show.

Spineshank is a good and somewhat innovative band, similar to Pitchshifter, who I would listen to only when my roommate would get tanked but if you're going to like Kittie or Otep, you might as well listen to Flyleaf. But if you're into chick bands along those same lines I recommend The Doughnuts. They're a old schoolish Victory Records band but they have a decent edge to themselves at least.

Poison The Well is awesome live. I saw them with Thursday and Spitalfield (quite the interesting lineup). I was right up front the entire time and my girl puts that show right up in her top 10 of all time. Unfortunately I don't know if they're up to much these days.

Oh yeah, and Chimaira is a great metal band. I actually saw them with Hatebreed and they got a lot of people onto the floor before Hatebreed took the stage. I have their first 2 albums and there are some good songs there to listen to.

To be honest, I hate the terms emo and screamo. They sound so damn corny to me so I only use them to bust people's *****. But I guess if you want real emo are you lookin for someone to post bands like Braid or are you talkin about bands like Spitalfield, Armor For Sleep, or Brand New? There are so many possible classifications of emo which is partly why I hate that term. As for math-metal, check out Blood Brothers, Rats Into Robots, or Transistor Transistor. And if you like that stuff you'd prolly even like electronic "math" stuff like Aphex Twin or Squarepusher.

And yes SHE is the one growling, I seen them live in concert on December 2nd at Fletchers in Baltimore.

My fav metal bands are...

Otep, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Spineshank, Nothingface (although they do have some softer stuff), Stone Sour, Chimiara, SOAD (System of a Down), Audioslave, Coal Chamber, Mushroomhead, the list could go on and on lol. Otep and Slipknot are my favs.

Metal is my favorite genre, but I have collections of everything from disco(VERY few disco songs), alternative, classic rock, rap, techno, some country, r&b, etc... etc...

If anyone hasn't heard of Otep and wants to hear a song or two of theirs, feel free to IM me for a sample They EFFING ROCK!!!

I still think Deftones " Around the Fur " album is one of the best heavy rock albums ever made. They have since sucked ___ since that album if you ask me.

Mudvayne's L.D.50 is an insane scream album... lol. It's great!

I've been listening to Saosin quite a bit lately, and the new Sparta as well. But those are def. not " screaming " music.

The song Cut Your Ribbon by Sparta is prolly in my top 25 favorite songs. Definitely an element of screaming to their music, especially on their first CD. If you like Sparta, check out At The Drive In.

Hartford, CT eh? Nice to see some more local people. I'm the same way though. I'll randomly get a jones for stuff I listened to back in middle school. Just the other day I pulled out my Nailbomb CDs and my old Victory Records samplers. That's all I've been rockin in my car lately. Anybody in the area have any shows they're going to? If people want, we should organize something. Dave you're good at that, get on it.

I'll toss out any show playing here... http://www.thepalladium.net/events.html except for the Jacks Mannequin, Switchfoot, Cradle Of Filth, or Children Of Bodom show.
