Default World Cup '06

Hey all... are there any other soccer enthusiasts on the forum?

Germany had a good showing in todays opening match.. especially w/o ballack.

I was surprised by the poor performance of poland as they didnt show up until the 80th minute when they hit the woodwork twice. I dont remember them having any real opportunities before that.

Can't wait to see the US play... I think we will tie the Czech, beat Italy, and destroy Ghana and advance.

What do you guys think?

Who do you think will be in the World Cup final?

I think it will be Brazil and England...maybe France

Supporting England since 8 years old.

England hasn't won the World Cup in 40 years. Would it be sad if England loses a match to less notable Trinidad and Tabago? I've read good reviews on WC Ghana team.

There are a lot of Brasil fans but most do so because Brasil won the Jules Rimet trophy several times. Same deal with Schumacher/Ferrari or Leeds United fans immediately becoming Crystal Palace fanatics. Through Thick and Thin...England 4Ever!

I think england has a great shot at ending the wc dry spell.... i would like to see the US do well.. i think they have a good team and i think they will go far in the tournament but still not good enough to win it all... brazil, england, france, portugal are far superior... i would like to see brazil get knocked out early

Didn't get early to watch England on the pitch. Yeah England won 1-nill against Paraguay...although it was on Paraguay's own goal...haha. In the words of Vin Diesel, it doesnt matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning.

My team is the greatest underdog in euro cup history!
GREECE!
Unfortunately, due to some bad luck and a hard qualifying group they did not make it
Anyway, hope Italy wins this one!

ya.. they played 45 minutes with only 10 men... doesnt look promising for the swedes if they cant finish on 10 players.. mad props to trinidad and tobago keeper.. he made some sick @$$ point blank saves

So I only got to watch about 20 minutes of the first half of the US game today... didnt look good. The only positive I saw was reyna's shot that rattled the post... czech showed they deserve that #2 ranking with a 3-0 @$$ beating

This is not the year for the US team.

I vote for Italy to go all the way.

I agree.. they need to start playing the starting 11 during qualifying so they mesh together.

I think the czech republic is looking really strong and after poor performance by france and a weak offensive showing for brazil i think the cup will go to the germans or czech
