Mine is located by the regular (although I have a S2K) antenna spot. It may not look pretty there, but it works great!

For cosmetic purposes, I have the antenna located in the windshield on the passenger side. When I go have it looked at today, after they replace the antenna, if still it is bad, I will have to put it outside like you did. I didn't think that having it in the windshield would cause problems. Is this the same for everyone?

Well I went back to circuit city today (where I bought it). They did 2 things for me, 1 gave me a new antenna (and wired it for me), and 2, moved the antenna from the corner of the windshield on the passenger side to a little bit more toward the center - maybe 6 inches. The reception is now 110% better. I don't know if its the antenna or location or both, but I really think its both. Just for everyone who is interested in improving their reception - try that!

I like my XM, but have honestly listened to very little SIRIUS. I believe I have read that the XM signal is generally better than SIRIUS, but have no data to back that up.
