RB motors arent nearly as popular as SR's, i had the chance to buy an RB20 but i passed and bought another KA from the same guy because RB parts are harder to get a hold of and more costly in case i have any problems.

well i think i got a fair amount done over the weekend.
got the dash board out.

then started doing work on the exterior for some reason.
got the radiator out, along with the battery and some reservoirs.

both fenders are off, crash bar and all supports are off, headlights and all supports are off.

and found this little gem. i knew it was there but didnt realize it was this bad.

heres how it SHOULD look.

guess ill have to grab the plasma cutter and cut it out and weld in all new pieces.
also found some nice milky coolants when i was draining the radiator, guess its a good thing i stopped driving it since the head gasket's on its way out. haha
as you can see...ive got ALOT of work ahead of me, i dont even think this will be done by next year since im doing pretty much everything alone.
next weekend i might pull the motor if time permits.
if not ill prob keep working on all the wiring, i want to get all the wiring harnesses out of the car so i can sort through them and figure out what i can get rid of.
also need to get all the HVAC and dash supports out so i have an easier time removing the sound deadening.

just noticed this thread...like to see more peeps sticking with the ka24de (or is this single cam?)
my old nissan altima ka24de was kinda fun rebuilding, id take a look at parts dinosaur for cheap stock engine parts for the ka. shipping is quick and prices are nice. http://www.partsdinosaur.com/ ...tell bruce I said hi.

(this is a year after rebuild, wish i would have put more detail in the engine bay. Had to get rid of the car after hurricane Ike flooded it, didnt have the time to play around with it anymore.)

forgot to update last weekend.
got the dash, dash bar, and all the wiring out of the car.
that was alot harder than i anticipated.
got most of the HVAC crap removed and some more sound deadening out.
also got the rear bumper off.
went to the junkyard today and scored a new glovebox, shifter base, shifter boot, clutch pedal, and cylinder for a little under $50.
next on the list is getting all the small sound deadening residue off and primering and/or pulling the motor and trans.
also decided im going to do a silvia front end because my pop ups are trashed beyond belief.
all the wiring is hacked up, half the relays are missing, pretty sure the motors are trashed, and the car was in a wreck (drivers front) so nothing fits right anyways.

im trying to find more info on this car but im using it for inspiration right now.

its a love hate thing.
most dont like it because its "fan boy" and/or because the round rear of the car doesnt flow with the square silvia front.
i def. think it looks better on coupes too, but with the amount of time, money, and frustration it will take me to fix my pop ups its just not worth it.
and im not about to drive around with them up all the time or have to lower them manually everytime im not using them. f that

pics will be up sometime this week maybe but did quite a bit this weekend.
got the motor and trans out and completely disassembled, time to start cleaning the block and head, prob going to hot tank them sometime this week.
also picked up some dry ice and got about 95% of the sound deadining off and started priming. Ran out of time so i just need to go buy a little more to finish up them in going to primer and paint the whole interior so i can start putting it back together and focus on other areas of the car.

been a while since i posted.
got the motor pulled a couple weeks ago and have been dealing with removing the OEM sound deadening, sanding off residue with a wire wheel, cleaning, and priming. what a ____ing pita.

Trying to get the interior all primed then painted in the next week or two if time permits, then i can get some parts rolling in.
Bride Vios Low Max
OMP Corsica Steering Wheel
NRG Hub & Quick Release
Autopower 6 Point Bolt In Rollcage
Front Speakers
Suede Door Canards
and possibly Sueding my Dash
Then ill move on to tackle the interior wiring by removing whatever i wont be using.
