If you want a serious macro lens, jump the Sigma 105mm, Nikon 105mm, and Tamron 90, and go straight for the Sigma 150mm. I've had the Sigma 105 and the Tamron 90, and neither hold a candle to the useful distance that you get from the Sigma 15o. The only macro better than the Sigma 150mm is the Nikon 200mm.
