Question Dirty lens on a digital camera?

I have a simple point and shoot Canon digital camera that for some reason has built up a lot of dirt on the camera lens itself. I was wondering is their some sort of special solution that I need to clean the lens? I was told by a guy at best buy that any kind of universal cleaning gel could work like the one below but at the same time I doubt he knew what he was talking about.

if you have any lens solution for cleaning eyeglasses, that would work. just make sure you dont spray it directly on the lens but spray it on the cloth you will be using... make sure you use a relatively small amount as there's no need to marinade the PnS under lens solution. use q-tips and microfiber cloths, if you dont have microfiber, dont need to buy one, just make sure you use a clean lint-free cloth
