Yeah, I'm holding it in the picture. You can also fire the shutter from it. My top finger is resting right on top of it.

It's takes 2 of those Lithium batteries, so you'll need to shell out another $50 to get one. You open the battery flap, remove the flap, place it in the grip, slide the grip into the battery slot.

I'm not sure which one you have, the XS or the XSi, but that's what I found. Give 'em a call and find out if it's the same for both camera models.

All three together would get you a great shooting range.

If I had to buy one it would be a toss up between the 28-90 and the 50mm prime.

i would go for the whole thing hahaha

but if you must, many places ive checked out all suggested a 50mm prime lens

if you wanna see what kind of shots they can take, you can hit up flickr and search for shots from those lenses

17-85 is f4 I dont think its worth upgrading from the kit lens. in the same price range you can look at the 28-135 that's f3.5 and would have a more suitable focal length for all around use.

the 75-300 is a poor quality lens, reviews have shown that the replacement 70-300 is far superior. 75-300 has some sharpness issues.

28-90 not sure about that one.

50 1.8 is good enough for beginner and advanced, its a winner regardless.

In hindsight, I think the best route for a beginner that has the funds to buy multiple lenses as a first step, is just buy the body and buy 1 good all around L lens like the 24-70 f2.8

I got the 50D and own four lenses, and I made the mistake of buying the kit with an EF lens.
in hindsight, I shouldve bought just the body and picked up a single 24-70 f2.8, that combo smokes my whole set of lenses in terms of low light shooting and image quality.

than I wouldve saved up for the 70-200mm f2.8L and than pick up a wide angle as a last lens.

Ro_Ja does your grip let you use auto focus or is using the button like using a remote? the grips for the D60 are like using a remote so i prefer to stick with using the normal button but still have the grip for the bonus of extra battery and better camera feel.

The grip provides a more balanced feel to the camera. The shutter button on it is just for ease of use when you turn the camera vertical, so you're not reaching all the way over the body to the normal button.

Nothing special. I two-toned my car with vinyl last week and just wanted to show that off.

It was just a quick snap (no tripod) before going into the house..
