what did you hear negative about it?

I mustve got a good copy then ahaha because the moment I received it first thing I did was inspect the glass for imperfectons and gave it a front/back focus test, all of which it passed with flying colors.

sharpness is a wee bit better than my 28 135 except corners and edges when 24 70 wins, the extra stops helps improve black level rendition substantially. color wise don't notice much difference, the biggest difference of course is the 2.8

anyhow, its too early to tell, how well it performs, Ill be using it tomorrow night and Ill know how good it is by the week end when I process the photos.
Even so the 24-70mm range is not all that attractive on APS-C DSLRs (39-112mm) - the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 USM IS is a better and cheaper bet except regarding build quality.
I'm very interested in the photos you take with it. If you don't mind, could you post a few pics later on?
I finally got to test this lens and gave it quite a run this past couple of days, it got heavy usage and never left my camera. This is undoubtedly a lens that can handle 90 percent of all types of photos I do, just can't handle is super wide and super tele. For event shooting and portraiture this is pretty much the best zoom lens you can get for a cropped sensor. Its focal length covers a wide range of photography type and dude....

after looking through all the photos, the 24 70 absolutely/positively slaughters all the lenses I own hands down. It's not even a close race, its a substantial mark up in visual fidelity in terms of sharpness, color balance, black level detail, and CA. It tops all my lenses by a wide margin.

Not only that, Im starting to use shallow depth of field again in my photography, I didn't like it because I got bored playing with shallow dof, but the background blur quality on this lens is absolutely beautiful.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to do street photography, my schedule has been slammed the last couple of days..

here 's I simple pic I took with the new lens yesterday.. my only complaint is that the focal range is a bit on the short side. I just wish it had a bit more reach. But this lens is seriously good enough to handle most everything I photograph.

Yeah, I want to get into portraiture photography and the 24-70 seems like the perfect lens. Thanks for posting the picture! Sounds like you really like it, good to hear for a prospective buyer.
