DSLR Owners Unite! (56k? Are you kidding me?)
Having a local photog forum has really helped me. When there's an event going on and there's a possible photo op, we post it up. I've been on outings Fri, Sat, and I'm going on another today. I might even roadtrip to Savannah tomorrow just to take pics.
Hey guys,
Just ordered a XSI (first dslr) and need help/suggestions on a lens. I am getting the standard "stock" lens with it but want a decent/mid-range zoom lens (above 8-10x optical equivalent).
My budget is around 350ish, 400 at the very most but I may make tiny adjustments in needed.
I want a versatile lens... Must be image stabilized. Good solid images at wide, as sharp-as-the-price-will-allow at full zoom. I also need a fairly fast speeds.
I don't know if this is too much to ask, but I really need your help here. Open to any suggestions but really want good honest help.
I have my eye on the EF-S 55-250mm IS Canon lens right now, still trying to research others.
Thanks again!
Appreciate it!

I can finally post in this thread as an owner! I just picked up my D90 today. Any tips for a novice?
Also, I'm going to a car show soon, any tips on getting shots of cars in motion?

^Look up panning if you'll be stationary. Vertical stabilization is key. Lighting conditions vary so you'll have to figure out the optimum settings when you get there. The slower the shutter the more wheel motion.
