DSLR Owners Unite! (56k? Are you kidding me?)
in the digital world, it's using photoshop to produce photos that mimic the effects of Lomo film cameras.
here's another example...

do some sort of googling around for "Lomography" and you will find plenty related to the topic. get some ideas, see what other people do, and then just put your own spin on it and have fun.

Ya bdis3, while you are learning, first go to auto and see the settings then go to manual and set them yourself so that you can learn where the best setting are. then when you feel confortable, you can play with them to find the best settings.

wat exactly is your job? im a vehicle operator, im always on the flight line and i wish i could take pics wit my slr but i was told that we can get in alot of trouble, but them shots are really nice.
without risk, there's no reward. but i didn't tell you that. if you can produce quality work (the stuff they want to see) and then network with the right folks, depending on how you approach the situation, you might just be able to find yourself shooting FOR the exact people that originally tell you you can't shoot here. i can tell you this much... you WILL have to manipulate the system to get what you want. but make it benefit them and your golden.
