do you have a backpack that will hold you camera and school gear? i am thinking about getting one so i have my gear with me all the time...you know just in case haha

 

I don't... I could probably fit it in my backpack if I don't have all of my textbooks, but it's nothing designed for cameras.

I've been looking at getting a Compu Day Pack. If I can find a second smaller body that would be great as well, maybe a D50. One lens should be enough because I really don't want to take all my gear to school.

 

very true. i was looking at the daypack or the kata dr something haha. i would only need it to fit my 30d and maybe the 70-200...but i may just carry the 50 and thats it.

Probably new. Personally, i wouldn't get it. You would probably want better glass pretty quickly. I would get a used body on ebay and slowly get good glass that you know you want.

If you plan on diving into photography I would advise starting higher in the line up than the D3000. Otherwise it's a great camera.

In that price range I'd look for a used D80 or D200 w/ an 18-55mm VR.

 

snag a used D40 with kit lenses. it's cheap, and you'll be able to sell it again in a year or two for what you paid when you're ready to upgrade to a body with features you will then be able to understand after learning on the D40.

$400 tops.

 

Yeh I was thinking of getting a Nikon d40. I was looking at sears because I have a gift card and they dont sell them there any more.
