this is probably asked quite often but..
whats a good starter DSLR camera? i've been wanting to get one for some time now

 

 

just bought myself a d90 tonight... am playing with it for the time being... i might return it and switch it up a bit with the 40d.... what do you guys think?

 

depends on what your use for the camera will be

 

mainly just cars, scenery, people?
mostly the stuff i've seen on this thread

 

same here, i do a lot of photoshoots for cars and people and everyonce in a while i like to go shoot scenery. D90 or 40D lol.... I do some sports and I know the 40D shoots at 6.5fps i think where as the D90 shoots 4.5... decisions decisions....

btw my d80 is for sale at the moment!

Well, I finally got me some new equipment.

Cannon EOS 50D
28-135mm IS USM f/3.5-5.6
50mm f/1.8II
20mm f/2.8 wide angle

In the mail right now, is a vert grip, extra battery, an ND Grad .9 filter, and a remote. I love this camera.

 

 

If you're just starting out, you don't need to drop the cash on a 50D or something to get great pictures... I just got a T1i (EOS 500D) and am very very pleased with it. Currently just have the 50mm II f/1.8 and can get great results.

 

i wouldnt even jump to a dslr when first starting. get yourself a nice point and shoot and learn the basics. great pictures can be taken with a p&s

 

Most point & shoots won't teach you much. Entry level DSLRs are by far the best way to learn.

 

I'm not starting out. I've had a SLR for a couple years. Just finally upgraded from my Nikon D40.

 

yeah to really learn you need some entry level dslr, you can just buy the good lenses and stuff and you might not need to upgrade to the higher ones unless your goals goes bigger.. I've had my xti for 3 yrs and upgrading to full frame is still far my priorities

I posted a different variation of 2 of these in the HDR thread. Wanted to share the natural ones as well. This is the Sebanci mosque and is the 2nd largest in the middle east. It can hold something like 28k people.
