But you're right, you would think snow would make everything "magical," but it's actually very challenging. Compositions are more difficult to make interesting, and then you have to worry about making sure your camera is metering it correctly, your white balance is fine, etc. A lot more manual settings go into it.

So I picked up a 50mm 1.8 today.. funny story, or at least I thought so.
I get to a Shell gas station at 5 and call the guy I'm supposed to meet. He picks up his phone with a thick german accent and tells me he'll be there in a black saab.. but I hear "black socks" so I was like wtf and I sit there for a few minutes, waiting for a guy in black socks.. A black civic si pulls in and I'm like oh maybe he meant "black sigh" so I wave at the guy in the car and he looks back at me like O_o but waves back anyway and I'm thinking "Crap that's not him.. Awkward." He gets out next to me and fills up gas and leaves without looking over, thankfully. About a minute later the real guy pulls up and I get out and greet him and explain my embarrassing incident but he just replies "Oh ok" since he doesn't understand and explains the 50mm to me

I finally got around to playing with the Macro-Fisheye lens and 55-200mm lens that were given to me on Christmas. Below:

About the macro fisheye lens - Is it perfectly normal for the fisheye photos to have all that black space around the photo? Is it because its a cheap lens (the brand is Opteka) or because its macro? I'd like to pick up something that will work better for all applications, but the Nikon lens is almost $700!
