Thanks to all for the advice, really is helping. Another question though, when a lens says that it has a stabilzer, is that to prevent blurred images in general OR would I be able to take a pik of say... a water dropplet falling and it not look blurred? Really need help on this...
Jus picked one of these up today... about to go play with it a lil bit

image stabilizer is to prevent motion from your hands from bluring the picture
to get a image of something fast like u mentioned a water droplet u would need a faster lens.
f stops like f1.8 will help u get that image.
canon has a super cheap 50mm thats f1.8
forget the zoom lens get that its way more useful than a zoom.
also check out this site this guy has lots of videos for beginners I learned alot from him.

I think I will keep this lens so I do have one for zoom since I got it at an ok price and jus look for another lens. But here's a couple I just took that I think look ok... btw, jus shooting right now trying to get the settings right and figure things out

lol well atleast it looks like this one is sharper than your kit lens but a prime lens would still be sharper. just search around that 50mm f1.8 goes around 70~90 used. check craigslist or keh.com

is this worth it?

Also, are lens hoods lens specific or just camera specific? And does it matter if the lens hood is generic?

The Arizona forest fire is the cause of smoke and ash to be blown over New Mexico. I live in Abluquerqe, and it would seem as if the fire was here, thats how bad it is.
This is what the evenings look like here.
This is the sun, sort of a hot pink tone, yesterday the sky was orange, seemed really creepy around the city, there was a stillness. Felt like the end of days.

I needed to shave about 5mm off one stud on each rear rotor to get my spacers to fit.
