Sharpness is dependent on the lens. When shooting FX, you really have to up the quality of glass you use. Anything considered a "kit" I'd stay away from.

I chose the D700 over the D600 first because of features and build, then price. The 600 is smaller, the body isn't entirely magnesium and subsequently not as weather sealed. It may not be as big of an issue for some, but that matters to me. Along with the D700 having 51 evenly spread AF points vs 39 clustered around the center of the sensor on the D600.

D600 on top D300 (same body as D700 minus viewfinder) on bottom

Alright, cool. I just didnt know if you had felt restricted at all by the megapixel count. Most of the images I've seen from D700s look phenomenal.
I'm aware of the importance of glass. I'm just not sure what I'll end up with, as far as lenses go. At this point I only know I'll have my 85mm 1.8G, which is pretty great. I appreciate the input.

You can print posters from 12MP or even less than that. My D90 is also 12MP and the 8x10 prints I had made look awesome so I can only imagine how the D700 prints will look. The biggest difference in IQ is the amount of data in the files. The RAW file of the D700 is about twice the MB of a D90 file even though they're both 12MP. Yeah more MP is better when you're printing 60" prints or billboards, but remember these high MP cameras didn't exist prior to 2008 and everyone was doing just fine.

85mm is an awesome focal length on FX. That's potentially one of my next lenses.

Learning about photodiodes and camera sensor systems in modern DSLRs and medical imaging systems in one of my engineering classes. New appreciation for photography and the mechanics behind it.

There's some pretty good money in biomed, for sure. Just dont know where I want to go with it yet. I have another year or so to figure that out, I guess.
Have you graduated?

Never had macaroons. They look good though. Or I may just be "tasting" the colors lol.

I went walking downtown again today. I was eager to try out my new 24mm on some street photos.

Hell yeah. I like the consistency in the colors and tones between shots in that set.

Buying a D700 from a friend who switched to Canon a while back. Should be picking it up either later today or sometime within the next few days.
Pretty stoked.

Hey guys,

I have a Sony a390 Im looking to sell. Have had it just under a year now and dont use it as much as I used to anymore. It has the kit lens as well as two other ones I purchased. Also has a 4gb SD card and a carrying case.
I know most of you have some REALLY nice cameras and dont think you would have a use for this one as its mostly for begginers. But, maybe someone might know of someone that would need/like it.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

Can't say I'd be much help. I used a GoPro2 for a bit, but it was pretty straightforward.
