Neither will I. It isn't worth what they're charging not when D700s are going for $1700. Plus you can get a D800 for $900 more than the D600 and it's a hell of a lot more camera for the price.
One thing that bothered me about it is the AF coverage on the sensor, or rather the lack there of. It's very little. Which is expected since Nikon took A DX AF multicam and put it on a bigger chip without any modifications.
I'll wait for the 2nd gen.

The D600 performed very well in DxOMark testing.

When the price falls below $2k, I'll reconsider.

you fellas change your mind yet about the d600 I was going back and forth between the 800 and 600 after seeing the reviews Ill get a 600 over an 800 because of the megapixels and with the extra 900 I could put that towards a 24-70
It's ranked #3 only behind the D800 and D800e. So IQ wise, it's an awesome camera. Just a little expensive at the moment, in my opinion. Keep an eye out for a used one. I've seen 1-2 pop up locally for around $1800. I've also seen D800s for $2600 or so.

I haven't changed my mind. Ill still wait for it to come down below $1699 before I pick it up. See, my D7000 isn't failing in any way for me. The "increased" DOF with the DX sensor is beneficial to me since 95% of my photography is macro. In which I am already hurting for DOF with macro @ 1:1 and greater.
