tC TEIN coilovers ..
Dont get too hung up on the extra levels. All that does is break the 16 levels into 32 smaller ones. There is a such thing as having way too much adjustability. I personally only see real differences in handling when making changes of 3 clicks or more (that would be 6 with the EDFC). So I have no real reason to ever buy it. IT would be neat to have, but you have to make sure your autox club is ok with just having it unplugged.. it costs you a few hundred or more, etc. So it isnt on a priority list to me. I simply cut 2 rectangular holes large enough to access the rear adjustors and took care of that for free ;) And the holes are barely noticeable really.
So the max softness and max level of hardness does not change with the EDFC? Cool thanks for that info. I guess really then, it's all about the ease of the adjustment since you don't have to get out of the car and adjust all 4 individually....you just press buttons on the module. That ease can still be all worth it though as you can change them on the fly while on the track.
PS...I have no carpet so it will be fully accessible anyway....
The adjuster is basically infinitely adjustable within its range. The standard setup has a clicker type **** to make it easier to get the settings the same between them. So it has 16 settings. The EDFC replaces that clicker **** with the stepper motor, which allows for more granular changes. So the min/max is the same since it still uses the same dampers.
One note that a lot of people could easily miss without reading the instructions is to start with it in the full stiff position and adjust back from there. There are actually 26 or so levels of adjustment on the regular ones. However, they warn to only use the top 16 or you could damage the dampers. I would have been happier if they would have made it where you could ONLY use the top 16 levels. I asked Tein about this and they said that was just how it worked out. Not the greatest design considering people are not always great about reading the instructions on things.
I guess with the EDFC it would restrict you from going below the bottom level electronically.
During a test n tune it would be handy to adjust quickly, but at a points autox event you are not allowed to even have the option of adjusting them on the fly (while driving). so you would have to disconnect it and make sure your local club was ok with it.

I believe they are not allowed in scca rules, but you know how the rule book is just as much as I do.. you need to read through all of the class rules from stock up to your current class for the car to determine what is allowed
I checked the rules a while ago, and I got the impression that the Street Mod class was like the highest class, and rules were almost none.
SM can run allowances from a few other classes (like Street Prepared) plus a few others. But the wording is a bit strange. Pretty much all lower classes state that dampers capable of adjustment while the car is in motion are prohibited. In SM, they are more vague by saying any suspension components are allowed, but it is hard to tell if that also means they open up the adjustment method. An SCCA forum may be more help there.
I might be interested. I have JIC FLT TARs right now and the ride is like concrete even on the softest setting for dampening. How do the TEINs ride? It appears by design you loose spring travel since its not dual tube design. Let me know if you can chime in.
You dont buy ss-ps or any other performance based coilover for ride comfort. You buy them for performance, and to do it right that means a stiff **** ride ;) The ss-ps are a LOT harsher than stock with the high spring rates and pillow ball mounts. Dont know how much harsher they are than what you have, but I wouldnt expect to buy them and end up with a nice cushy ride again.
