One thing is a little ookie though. Notice the lack of people. There are only a couple here and there...very odd.
most of the pics were taken between noon and 3 pm on the weekend. The people that live there are smarter than me, they stay inside

If I do go back I'll probably stay in Dubai. The university (part of the national oil company, owned by the government) is about 30-40 minutes from Abu Dhabi and about 90 minutes from Dubai. I'll at least try to get up there for a visit.

I got back at 10pm Thursday, then had to work all day Friday and Saturday, so I didn't go to the Ikea thing. I ended up doing birthday party shopping and chauffeur duty.

You need to come hang out at small meets more often.

Welcome back and thanks for sharing the pictures. I think this will have to be on my list of cities to visit and photograph, it is a wonderful place. I like it when Scott goes to Asia, he takes tons of pictures and it makes me want to go even more. I am just waiting on my passport to arrive so I can leave the country.

that place looks really nice. I wish I could travel to other countries. Only 5 more years and I can try and get my pass port back.

yes and no. I don't like leaving my family for a week, 12 hour plus plane rides suck, and I'm working usually long hours. If I'm lucky I get half a day or so free and sometimes evenings. I do love the fact that I get to see all this stuff that I wouldn't ever get a chance to see without the job I have. I guess if I got a University job I could travel a little to conferences, but I like the job I have better than the scramble for research money.

no Materias, but I did see a lot of ads for them. Also saw a lot of Toyota xA's.
