Any Car Audio wizards want to help?
I want to upgrade my speakers. Need some help finding a good deal on ebay and doing some installation. I really don't know very much at all about install or what speakers would be best. Help would be great. Oh and of course I would love help doing the install and could pay. Of course the ideal situation would be that someone loves installing and would give me a great deal or free.
Thanks,
Matt

What are you going to use to drive the speakers? Are you going to add subs too?
I was thinking of just starting with some speakers than getting a sub and amp installed eventually. Or do you think that having nice speakers won't make that much difference without an amp pushing them?
you can run nice speakers with a stock stereo.......it will sound cleaner, but you will still be limited to volume.
I like MBQUART, they are pricey for the good ones but well worth it, I put all MB quart in my accord and dont have an amp installed to them yet, and they sound 10 times better then stock. alot more range, and I actually get good bass responce as opposed to the cheap paper stock speakers.
But boston accoustics, polk, infinity all make good speakers for the money

I went with an Eclipse but there are plenty of good ones out there. With a good head unit you can wake your speakers up a little now then, when you add the amp, you can either go with an amp dedicated to subwoofer duty or, get one that can handle a sub and new speakers.
My speakers are from Memphis Audio, so is my amp. The recommendations Kilo6_one made are also good. The thing about Memphis that I liked was that, if you let an MECP certified installer do the install, the factory warranty is doubled by Memphis.
Where ever you buy your equipment it's a good idea to make sure they're an authorized dealer. This gives you a better support channel if something breaks. Otherwise you end up having to ship parts out for replacement or repair.
As for having one of the people on SL do the install... there are a few here that I know can help you. RJ and Randode for instance. Just remember that their time is worth somthing. If you decide to check out a good dealer I strongly recommend Tom @ Listen Up! Car Stereo. You can call them if you want to check out an Eclipse or Clarion head unit. Their number is 602-485-8855.
Doesn't your RS03 have the Alpine system? I would say that those speakers are pretty decent if that's what you have.
I would recommend amplifying the speakers that you have and adding a subwoofer.
Example, a Rockford Fosgate Punch 4004 amplifier, wire your mids and highs in parallel on the front channels and use a Rockford Fosgate PL1-110 sub enclosure bridged on the rear channels.
This would be a great improvement for the money. If you want more, you can add the new QLogic kick panels with some 5.25" componets up front.
I just did a version of this exact system in my new F150 SuperCrew and it rocks!

even the "name brand" speakers that are being installed in cars are junk most of the time, my denali had a bose system supposedly, we removed the speaker once to check the wiring, and it was no better then most other paper cone speakers, even though it was Bose.....
if you run an amp to your stock speakers check the RMS handling on them, or you may blow them

I know there is tons of room under the front seats. I wonder how a sub would sound under there. I agree with kilo that these stock speakers are pretty bad. I doubt they are alpine. I read that the Alpine HU doesn't have an amp pre-out, so the amp would have to be wired into the back speakers.
you could fit a infiniti bass link under your front seat, or have a 8" custom fabricated to fit....the nice thing about the infiti basslink is that is self powered, so all you would need is a good 4 channel amp. If your looking for a decent amp and dont want to spend a fortune I bought some MA audio stuff and Im pretty satisfied for the dollar.
I have never looked into the inside of the xb, but it has alot of really nice room, so I would get a ported box for the rear.....it would sound really good in their

Just was mentioning that in case you wanted a reference. It's a great "stock" system. Just not upgrade ready.
All you really need to (or can) add is a sub and the 10 inch Memphis setup he can add would be perfect.
When you going to drop by the store?

For most stereo stuff, I'd recommend buying local. Find a shop that you like and buy from them. They'll most likely work with you on things if you tell them what you're doing and what you're shooting for.
