Anyone that watched last nights episode of Mythbusters would have seen that they used MTX Audio to help bust a myth that a car subwoofer could cause an SKS rifle to misfire while in a vehicle. I've had to keep my mouth shut about this entire thing for a few months now as I have known about this episode since they filmed it.......I WAS THERE

I was asked to fly to New Mexico to help drive our trailer with our Escalade show truck with 2 22" Jackahammer subs to the filming in California. I got to hang out all day with Grant, Tory....and oh yeah....Cary

I have a lot of pictures and some video taken from being on the set of this but won't be able to post them till later tonight when I'm in my hotel room. If you missed this episode I'm sure it will re-run later this week. Im glad I can finally share about this getting to do this, the producers said we couldn't discuss it at all with anyone or have any pictures of it up anywhere. I didnt find out the episode was going to air yesterday until about 3 hours before it did.

Grant, Tory, and Cary are just like they are on TV and extremely cool to hang out with. They are also very legit, they really know their stuff and are not just actors on TV. Everything done on the show was done by them and not some stage hand setting something up for them to walk over and say "I did this".

 

saw it last night, its was pretty cool. very nice ride.

so was it resin or an amp that was causing all that smoke?

 

It was the resin on the voice coil. That woofer has a 6" voice coil which means a lot of glue. We get in trouble most places we take the truck for turning it up to much so we don't really get much of a chance to break in the woofers fully which is what happened during filming.

We ran two more times after that but they decided to end the clip there.

 

whats the highest spl you have been able to get in there?

i would love to see & feel that thing in person. i bet it makes your bones shake.

 

did anyone say anything about cary's baby?

No they didnt mention anything on the show about her being pregnant but as you can see from the pics she is extremely pregnant......still hot though.

The Escalade has been tested at 160DB BUUUUT that output was at 30 Hz which for anyone in the car audio world knows is extremely impressive output at such a low frequency. It takes twice as much power to produce the same amount of output at half the frequency. The world record holder at 180DB is a competition only car that is tuned around 60 Hz I believe and wouldnt be able to play any music and sound good.

Yeah he is as a matter of fact. I actually drove back down from Wisconsin with him over the weekend and he's in town until Thursday. How do you know him? Would you like me to pass along a message or phone number?

 

I worked with him years ago up in Appleton WI. He was one of the first of us to figure out how to 'glass well. You can tell him Kyle from American says Hi when you run across him again

 

I'm pickin him up from the hotel in the morning so I'll make sure to make mention of it.
