Loop 101 Closed again this weekend..
8 miles of northbound Loop 101 to close this weekend
No traffic is allowed on eight miles of northbound Loop 101 this weekend as workers prepare to build Scottsdale's first freeway carpool lanes.
All northbound lanes of Loop 101 will be closed from Loop 202 to Via de Ventura from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.
Next weekend, the southbound lanes of Loop 101 from Via de Ventura to Loop 202 will be closed from 9 p.m. Sept. 28 through 5 a.m. Oct. 1.
Getting around this weekend's 8-mile closure of northbound Loop 101 depends on where you are coming from.
Signs will direct drivers to detours on surface streets, mainly Hayden Road through Scottsdale. Specifically, the Arizona Department of Transportation recommends:
• Drivers coming from the west on the Loop 202 and heading north should exit at McClintock Drive and go north. McClintock turns into Hayden.
• Drivers coming from the east on the 202 and heading north should exit at Alma School Road and head north. They then should turn west on McDowell Road and north on Hayden.
• Drivers coming from the south on the 101 should take the 202 east to Alma School, then head north to McDowell. They then should turn west on McDowell Road and north on Hayden.
All drivers will use Via de Ventura to return to the freeway.
The work is part of a $47.5 million project to build 15 miles of carpool lanes along the median of the Loop 101 between Princess Drive/Pima Road on the north and Loop 202 on the south.
During the weekend closures, construction crews from contractor Coffman Specialties Inc. will prepare a work zone in the median. They will remove the current striping, shift the three traffic lanes toward the shoulder and re-stripe the lanes. They also will set concrete barriers near the median.
When the stretches reopen, drivers will have the same number of lanes but less shoulder space, ADOT community relations officer Brock Barnhart said. Speed limits also will drop to 55 mph from the current 65 mph during construction.
Once the barriers are up, crews will begin grading the median, hauling materials in and out, and otherwise constructing the high-occupancy-vehicle lanes.
The entire project is to be completed in late 2008.

I thought I still saw the I-10 from 27th Ave to 19th Ave Closed sign was still up with new dates this morning, but it was 4:30 when I got on the freeway and at that time of the morning, unless it was a beautiful semiclothed chica on the side of the road, I can't be positive!
