Default Midnight Run Car Show results

First a Big Thank you needs to go out to Larry Miller again for sponsoring another trophy class for the us folks that love our Scions. This is twice they have sponsored trophies for us at car shows THIS year. WE cannot say the same for anyone else in the valley. Thanks again

Big hands to those that won in Class trophies

tC
1st Palce to Big J (NCbiggj) First win
2nd Placeto RockBlocker

xB
1st Place to Hotwheels
2nd Place to Boomster

A few thoughts that I would like to just use as way we can all help and make things possibly easier and better for us at the next car show. These comments and suggestions are coming from the majority of people that showed last night.

1.
If you are going to roll in first through the gate that usually means the people working the show are going to be asking a lot of questions like how many vehicles etc. IF you are not capable or do not want this role please do not roll in first.

We sat there for a ridiculous amount of time for no reason at all. Parking is not that hard.

2. and I hope that Larry Miller as well as After9events see this an agree there is work to be done in communication. Maybe Smitty wont mind letting After9 in on this after people have the opportunity to post here in their own words.

If a car show is going to post up the info for the shows and prices on their website they need to make it very clear that YOUR co -pilot has to pay as well. We did not find out this until we pulled up to the gate and get hit with an extra 18 bucks. While After9 will prolly put this on us. Think about this. No other show does this so why trick your competitors and not spell it out??

Spectators are not allowed in until 10 pm. It is SPELLED clearly on their site so why would the co-pilots allowed in before then if they are spectators?? When all you have to is disclose this fee on the site in the first place. Not everyone had enough money and there WAS NO ATM machine so we banded together and helped fellow Scion owners out. Im sure we were not the only ones.

3. IF you are going to make it public that the awards are going to be at 1:30 AM then try your best to live up with that. Dont make it look like a lie and screw the people that are wanting or needing to go home ( ie babysitters) and keep us there until 4 AM for the awards. Sure things dont run on time and we all know that but 2 1/2 hours for a group that puts like this on all the time is out of control and you need knew to work the show then. Basically for those that werent there. They posted a time for the awards and then prolly thought "Well if we do the car show awards at 1:30 more than half the people will leave so lets back it up to the end so we can keep people here to look at some less than flattering Bikini contest, a Dj battle that was 3 hours late starting".

So instead more than 60% of the cars were gone and 80% of the spectators were gone for the awards.

You might wonder why I am writing all this or telling everyone. I am hoping that people that went last night are willing to speak up and put their thoughts right here in this thread sowe can then show After9events about our great displeasure and maybe they will see "hey, we need to fix this for the next event"

I heard all night other groups complaining and a lot of people showing said they would never come back or go to another After9 events program. If this is the case then there would go another opportunity for us car lovers to have a place to show and it is already hard enough to find good quality shows here in town. After9 you can do better than this so why dont you show us??

Another notes

- Garbage cans only in front of food booths is a joke. Trash was everywhere including glass bottles and I mean everywhere.
- Running out of water and anything to drink at 1:30 when the show goes to 4 am???
Dont mind that it was still really warm in the middle of the night and people were thirsty from all the dirt/dust all over the place.
- Why have a beer garden when people can walk around drunk with open containers all night dropiing glass bottles so they can shatter, be driven over or walk into your competitors cars.

Moral of the story - After 9 can do a lot better if they want there events to continue to improve and get bigger. If they dont then they will fall.

If someone finds out about a show and posts about it. Lets try to get more than enough info if at all possible and think about any question we can possible think about so we are better prepared. Nothing against you Scott at all, I think you did a great job getting everyone put together, we just need to push and ask more since it is clear that the organizers of this event didnt know what they were doing.

Bring more money since you never know when you are going to need it.

Did say 4 am. Im sure there were some driving home with the sun up TRD and BigJ....

Congrat's to all the winners.

On another note - Wow -- Ummm after reading this post it sounds like a nightmare.
I hope everyone had - dare I say a good time - but in reality it didn't sound that way.
Hang tough folk's -- We have more events coming up that sound very well thought
out.

congratulations to the people that won. I will show this thread to the person that runs After9 so he sees this feedback on his events and hopefully situations can get better.

Cangratulations to all the winners!!!

I do agree that it was not very well planned out. After waiting I don't know how long to park. I got a little irritated. The event wasn't that until we were all just waiting for the trophies. I know once 2am hit, a lot of us were tired and just wanted to see some trophies and go home.

I know you guys from far away were seeing the sun come up on your way home, because it was starting to when I got home.

i was expecting alot more from this event as well. i waited 2 hours in line to get in, and when i got there, there was hardly even anyone there! watching the same 2 350zs and a few other cars run over and over again got real boring. i heard the last 2 years were 10 times better. on a good note, congradulations to all the winners!

CONGRATS TO THE BIG WINNERS

Yeah sorry about that.... at the gate answered the lady's questions but then got stuck behind all the other cars and was lost because she did not tell me what to do.. so I was just as lost as the next guy... if she had said... go down to the pit area and pull off onto the side and they will begin to park you then i would have understood instead she said... pull off to the right and wait????? I think that was apparent from every car waiting to the right of the entrance... she finally came out and told us to move up but we were still lost... then at the actuall show area i had someone tell me your with a club? I told him yes and told him it was all the scions and he just told me to pull off and wait... never again will I go in front... truthfully I dont even know how i got there to begin with... please accept my apoligies

Well first, BIG UPS to Larry Miller Toyota/Scion for sponsoring this event! You guys did a phenominal job! It was pretty neat meeting at your dealership, couple of your cusomters I saw came over and were checking out the rides

Also thanks to After9events for holding this Midnight RUN event, it was pretty fun being my first legit show in Arizona since I've been out here.

Where to even begin with all the negatives... I believe Chad mostly hit them all on the head but I noticed a couple more things.

I DID see a couple underage kids walking around with beer in their hands, which I thought there was going to be police on hand for that?

2. Entering/Parking was a total freaking mess. NOBODY including our group knew where to go.

3. I talked to a few of my friends over by all the "tuner" cars and they were complaining that the parking sucked and that they had trash/key marks on their cars from people walking in and out throughout their lot.

4. Myself and BJ left at 130am exactly and they didnt even begin to start passing out awards, I believe they were still going a bikni contest or some stupid rap group was on the stage? Couldnt really remember but the timing on this event was TERRIBLE

5. I know Chad touched base on the pricing and yes I will have to agree. THAT was bull crap. I was behind Chad when we were entering and I saw him fork over more than $25.00 for the car show. I started shaking my head and thought to myself "why in the hell should the passenger have to pay as well?"

This event IMHO was fun and terrible at the same time. I dont think I'll be going to another event held by After9 again.

Another topic about parking....

I went to NOPI Nationals from 2002-2004 down in Atlanta, GA. How they park is how ANY event should be parked. They have designated areas of parking that goes by CAR MAKE. It was quite retarded to see 2 EVO's then all of a sudden some old school mustang and a STi

Then again this parking idea is just my opinion and I have a tendency to compare any "big" car show to NOPI Nat's in ATL, GA just because its probably the best one I go to and its always organized.

In closing, it was very fun to meet up with you guys again! Congrats to Big J and Chad!

Everyones cars deserved to win they all looked awesome!

i can't remember ever hearing that a passenger has to pay to get in if you're paying to show or enter in the racing.

Why should we have to call and ask when it could be posted up. I know my wife would stayed home and After9 would have been cut out of $18 bucks.

Thanks to those that posted there thoughts on the show who went. I does mean a lot you have spoken up. Hope to see more people doing this. So far the information has been accurate and informative. After9 if you read this it is for constructive criticism not bashing.
