gas prices only get worse, but the smart car isn't that great. it should be half the price that it is. compare the prices and options of a smart car to a toyota yaris, honda fit, scion xD etc.

unless you live in a crowded city where parking and manueverability is extremely limited, the smart car ain't that great.

 

Well i mean you get a lot for what it is, and at $13k starting, isnt bad

yeah, options aren't bad, but what you can get those in the equivolent compact from honda or toyota and you also get something called...interior cargo capacity. the smart seats 2, has like how much trunk and interior space? virtually zero. i'd sooner drive a four-wheeler or ATV through a city than a smart car.

 

only thing you forgot... Can you be safe driving here in Az with that small of a car?

As far as the Smart Car goes, I have heard of people slamming them into a wall at 70 MPH and walking away. I still think they look weird driving down the street.

 

I get 35 mpg in a safe XD with room & room for cargo. I am sticking the the XD for my daily! And a TON more power / pep than a sluggish yaris which I test drove.

 

The smart car is a conversation piece. when it comes down to bang for your buck and mileage there are MANY better options. Oh yeah, by the way have you seen the warranty on the Smart cars? Yeah, in case you haven't its 24 months! Yeah no thanks!

 

You know im half tempted to get the TDI version they have in canada... i hear it gets about 70mpg..

Agreed! This is one car company thatis playing no BS. It obviousley is a very feasable feat to not only have a car with awesome range AND performance but a looker as well.

at 109,000 is a bit steep but they are working on another less expensive sedan.

Heck, an xD, xA or maybe not as bad, but an xB would look that bad getting hit by a truck that big. I am not trying to defend the smart car, but the matrix and others would look almost the same.

 

that smart may be a "crossblade"

if not MOST cars + heavy Lorrie = bad news
but for MPG buy a TDI gulf / BUG etc
