With paypal, you basically create an account that links to all your banking accounts (VISA, MC, AmEx, Checking...). Paypal will also cover if there are problems and you do not receive the product you order. With a paypal account you can also receive money. I hope this helps.

You have to initiate all transactions on paypal. Basically you could use your debit card as a credit card. You can also link your account directly to paypal. This is great because it is equal to writing a check, but an automated electronic withdraw. They have the account number and routing number. To test the account they use to deposit money in your account, not sure if they still do that. When I opened mine, one time they deposited .91 and the other time it was 1.06. You then use the amounts they deposited to your account to verify the transaction. I have only had a couple problems with paypal and they have fixed them 100% each time. They have a dispute process for when you do not receive the goods/services you use paypal to pay for them. Some places prefer not to use the credit card transactions as this costs them more. I have not had any problems with paypal that they did not correct.
