Wanted to get a group consensus on this. Bryan and I have been talking about what we should do here. We have a couple of different scenarios to choose from so if you dont mind voting and/or commenting to give us an idea what the group thinks.

1. We have prizes for the Poker Run, raffle items and items to auction off.

2. We use all the items that are donated to just the raffle and auction. Sure the people participating in the Poker Run wouldnt win anything but it would allow us as a community to raise EVEN more to Charity.

So basically which do you prefer we do as a community we do.

 

Kinda of seems like a no brainer to me. My vote is the charity!!!!!

While I agree it should be a no brainer as you can see fromt eh voting some people want a prize for attending. We just dont want to offend or mislead the group. That is why we want a consensus vote. Thanks for voting and commenting

 

The simple fact that I know I am trying to help make this world a better place for everyone.....that is our prize!!! Other than that, let's all get together and make some moeny for JDRF.....when you really think about it, do you really need some sort of prize??? Helping the kids and the satisfaction of knowinig you are trying to make a difference in this world is all the prize we should need!!!! Let's do this!!!!!!!!

for me, the prize is the fun. Sounds tacky, but it's true. Plus you're helping a great cause so it makes the most sense.

Maybe just give two prizes. Winner and dead last. The rest to charity. That way it keeps everyones attention and also gives to the charity. .02

I hear ya on winning the prize thing for the Poker Run and we might just do that. Offer only a couple of prizes up for the Run and keep the rest for charity raising. I look at it this way everyone has a chance to win or get something at the event whether it be the raffle, auction, Poker Run prize or some other way. Everyone still wins and we ALL raise money together.

I will say that I went to the JDRF luncheon yesterday at Cardinals Stadium and the first word that comes to mind "Shock". My father has diabetes and it runs in my family, but to listen to these stories about children and what they go through. Lets just say you dont have any idea unless you look into this.

Fact - Child with Juvenile Diabetes will get a finger ***** in their lifetime an average of 150,000 times.

Im more than ever gonna do whatever I can to help raise as much money for the JDRF as I can. I can use all the help I can get with this so please do whatever you can to help the cause as well. I thank you, Brent and his family thanks you and the JDRf thanks you. Meghan's story brought tears to many people'e eyes yesterday.

 

I say charity, I know MTX would have no problem of course having their product auctioned off instead of given away.

Raise more money!!

 

I say give maybe a couple prizes for lets say best hand and and I would say Sell raffle tickets to win prizes and auction the rest off and give the money to Charity......Maybe the auction could be like a Silent auction with certain items sitting on tables and people putting down a dollar amount they would pay for it and the highest bidder gets the item.....

 

The most effective way to attract people to the event, in order to be able to raise funds, is to offer free prizes.
The more a person can win, or even just thinks they can win a prize, the more likely they are to attend. the more people attend the more tickets for the raffles you are likely to sell.
However I agree that the bulk of items should be distributed by whatever means necessary (raffle or auction) to generate the most funds for the cause.
