Alright you ***** loving boys before we scare everyone off from making a road trip why dont we hange the subject. I think a road trip would be an awesome idea unless people think their cars are more parked than driven?? I loved these trips in the past when you get 50, 60, 70, 80 cars out for a drive.

We just need to preplan a bit, but should be cooler!! Bryan, Ill help you out if you want as always. Lets pick a weekend to do it.

Back on topic. Looks like there is some definite interest here. So lets see if we can plan something out that everyone can enjoy. I know in the past as mentioned there is a lot of interest but then a lot of people bail out.

How can we change that? Is there soemthing that I can do to help make it better this time. Im down for whatever so lets hear it. Also dates that would be good and we will try to get a date.

I think if we leave early enough plan some sort of BBQ lunch (Burgers, Dogs, etc) and go to a cool place, we might get quite a few people. We might have to talk to the forest services to see if we can find a place we could BBQ and maybe take over a whole day use area.

I know that Showlow has a really nice day use area, but that is a long butt drive. Lake Mary also has a couple and i know that Oak Creek also has one. (the State Camp Ground in Showlow, "Fools Hollow Lake" has one of the best dau use facilities I have seen, but it is a 3 hour drive one way. This place also has a playground for kids.) All with plenty of shade. The big thing would be fire danger and BBQs. If we were to do something like this, I might just continue by camping at a location near by.

Good places and ideas. How many people are up for a drive that includes a stop for BBQ?

I am up for a drive as long as it is to a cool (not hot) place. Get the heck out of the valley for even a few hours would be awesome.

If a 2 hour drive from Fort McDowell is not to much, I recommend Showlow (Fools Hollow Lake Recreation Area). I think Woods Canyon Lake would be good, but not sure what kind of facilities they have. I know that Fools Hollow Lake has flushable toilets and stuff like that. Plus a great area for a group to get together. It would be great to see a bunch of Scions driving those winding roads. The big problem is fire dangers with the BBQ. Oak Creak also has a nice day facility, but not sure if we could rent out the day use area for the day (it typically fills up quick.) I think Slide Rock also has a picnic spot too. Not sure, that place has gotten comercialized. But I am down for a good cool run to get out of the valley heat.
