Default Thank you for the AIM computer virus Alexis :-p

So if anyone gets an IM from someone saying "check out the new pic i put up" and the address is for someone on AOL or something.....DON"T CLICK ON IT!!!

I'm still trying to get my computer back to normal. Its a worm virus that once infected it goes and sends out the same message to everyone in your contact list which is how I got it from Alexis. It will keep opening and closing windows once it sends the message.

I have ran two different virus programs and spybot but it still didnt get rid of it. I finallt uninstalled AIM on my computer and am in the process of re-installing it. I'll post to let everyone know if that took care of it.

well it was my dumb fault that it got this far, i clicked up on the folder window and it wouldnt work......i dont remember for sure but i think i might have clicked on the save button which could have done it. No hard feelings Alexis

I think running the anti virus software helped getting rid of the virus but the worm was still there so when i signed in again it continued to send the link to random people. I finally uninstalled AIM and re-installed it which worked. DO NOT install the new AIM Titan Beta version though if you don't have to, it lags and is slow. Im going to try and install the older version so i can continue on with my life since I don't have the original AIM download file from the previous version I had.

Go across the country to Mid-A and blame Stu!! Once I realized what it was and got it off I told everyone who it sent not to open it but I guess if you were at your computer....

After I logged off AIM and logged back on, it stopped. My computer automatically quarantined it and I deleted it and its gone now.

Sorry

so is the little button at the bottom of your post that says AIM not yours? I would try, but I don't use it.

I would have to say that it was my fault for clickin on anything after my computer said it could not be safe, I just didnt think that I would be getting it that way.

Most the people the virus sent it out to in my buddy list were all the cell phone numbers i have in my list so it cant effect them, but i got a lot of people asking why i kept sending that message to them.

It's all good, stuff like this happens.

not exactly related to aim, but I ran into a EVIL trojan on a clients' PC called spyaxe. If you haven't done so in the past 4 days, update your virus defs RIGHT NOW. I've found over 60 places Spyaxe has installed itself in the system, including program files, start menu, desktop, systray and the registry. I'm STILL battling it (3 days now) to get the system back to normal enough to reinstall windows (too much personal stuff to just nuke it like I would my own).

thanks for the heads up on the AIM bomb.

All you folks running MS Windows or the AIM app from AOL really need to pay attention to the announcements that come out about viruses, worms, and trojans. Let's fact it, guys and gals you have large red and white targets painted on your chests, and you need to be one jump ahead of the Black Hats...

Read this - it is an article from 06DEC on just one of the AIM viruses, and it has been discussed on the warning sites since at least the 5th:

News.Com.com

Nasty stuff...as usual.
