Default Western Union Scams?

I got an email from a guy in Miami, Florida who was interested in the turbo kit I have for sale. He said he saw the ad here on ScionLife. I have heard of scams like this via email, but he gave me his telephone number to call and speak to him directly. I ended up calling him and actually spoke to him. He said he would do a money transfer from a Western Union there in Miami and would send the cash to a Western Union here in Arizona for the turbo kit. He said that he would do a cash transfer, not a check transfer. During our conversation he asked me to open the boxes and take pictures of the contents to protect himself. It seems kind of shady.....what do you think?

Sounds like the same guy that has been selling turbo kits on EBAY and taking people's money. He proably wants pics so he can post them on EBAY and try to sell another bogus kit. I say stay away.... Hold on to the phone number, some others may need that to try and recoupe there losses from him.

i got burned really bad in a similar type situation a few years back...cost me about $2300 bucks because i was naive and the banks are stupid. If you even think its the tiniest bit shady....stay away. We ignored our gut instincts and it cost us a lot.

I agree, I don't need to lose $3100.00 right now.

Well, as long as you get paid first and send the kit out to him when paid in full, you should be alright. BUT, I think Paypal would be more of a less risk than Western Union.
I think Western Union wont send the transfer unless it was paid to them by cash anyways. This is hard to say yes or no to, so I agree to the above comments, stay safe and go with your gut instincts.

I would just not rather take the chance. I may end up keeping the kit since no one has even made and offer.

I say keep the turbo kit!

If you ever sell it though, get cash in hand before you ship anything out!

hmm.. western union is risky.. paypal is better

i've had my fair share of experiences with scammers and western union.. doesn't matter if you've talked to them in person.. or even met them in person... if they're out to scam you.. they will.

I have sent money via western union with my debit card. I have worked at several banks that you can swipe your card (Or VISA gift card) with a balance of $20 or more on the card to get the authorization from the bank to approve the card. Then a couple of days later Western Union wants their money back or will not release the funds because the funds are not in their posession. Then they go after the one they can track down and that is usually you.

The ONLY time I use Western Union is to send money to a friend or a family member.

I may have to just stick with the kit at this point.

Now I just need more money to do it the right way; Extude Honed manifold and turbine housing, HPC coatings, Polished IC Piping & End Tanks, larger injectors, Fuel Pump and some guages. I guess I have to continue on with the project.

I guess that means I will have a Greddy Header and Envy Green AEM Cold Air Intake for sale pretty soon. Both of which are less that 2 months old.

Thanks for all of your input.
