Bad Bumpy Roads in Chicago?
Where are they?
Situation:
Your car is dropped really low and you drive into streets without the knowledge of it's conditions ahead of you.
I really hate this situation, cause you can't really avoid them in congested traffic. And the navigation system obviously don't know where they are at. I checked on the net and nothing found. My car is really low and I know the lowered setup is not all practical, but it's not a setup I'm willing to sacrifice. Plus, Richard Daley can't implement some funds to get these roads fixed. (That's right, I said it!) So I thought I'd open a topic on this for Chicagoians to know where they are at. I know there are some speed bumps in residential areas of Chicago. I'm not really concerned about them, but if anybody can contribute to this thread and state details where these potholes and bad railroad crossings are, I'd appretiate it.
If you fellow Chicago scion owner contribute to this topic, also suggest a way to avoid them (whether it's staying on the right lane on a 3 lane road for one mile before approaching the bumpy road conditions). Thanks.
I'll update and keep yall posted on the areas I know later.

Location: Harlem Ave. and Northwest Hwy. intersection.
There is a railroad crossing on Harlem ave. near that location that is terribly bumpy in all lanes on both northbound and southbound directions. One time, I jumped the tracks when I was totally unaware it existed.
There's no way to avoid it, because all lanes in the crossing are affected. What I've been doing lately is turning left or right a block ahead of the railroad crossing, go around on side roads, pass Northwest hwy for another block, and then get back onto Harlem Ave.

this will be about 90 pages long if everyone posted on it, but ill let u know right now
on i294 goin north, theres a dip in the left lane about .5 mile after the hinsdale ipass, and theres about 3 about 1mile b4 the oasis just south of that. i have to go on the shoulder and slow down for both of those
then theres the onramp by elmhurst for i think 83 that is marked dip, but u have to take the shoulder.
and then .... to many

Thanks to you both.
I must tell yall that I did some damage and crushed my down/flex pipe at that railroad crossing on Harlem ave. It's really that bad and it's been like that for many years.
V next!

avoid at all cost Lagrange Rd/manheim rd/Rte 45, whichever you guys prefer. I am talking bout the strip of road that you travels next to Ohare airport. To be exact it is Route 45, between Grand ave and Touhy ave, it is bumby as crap, dips all over the place, and there is no safe lane to be in, if you have a lowered tc, stay away from this stretch of road, you will either wonder if you killed your suspension or bent a rim after going through this stretch.**** find another route, to be safe****
Could be more, just need to think bout it, but that one comes to mind first.

- Manheim going south especially right by the airport is the worst. They attempted a patch a while back, but it didnt get any better. Like mentioned before, avoid it at all costs.
- The train tracks in Franklin park on Scott St. between Belmont/Franklin Ave. and Pacific Ave. has a verrry rough crossing.
- Rt 64/North Avenue anywhere east of 290/294 has random bumps usually in the right lanes.
- Lake St. in Northlake, Melrose Park, Maywood, n a little bit into Oak Park (pretty much east of 290/294) has some pretty bad bumps, mostly in the right lane.
- River Road by all the Cook County Forest Preserves are pretty bad, mostly right lanes.
- 25th Ave. south of North Ave. has got bumps there.
^ Yea, but the other half is awful. We were in my friends SUV going down there and it sucked. I think my car would've been crying.
290 Eastbound right before Hillside, there's a huge pothole in the center lane.

all south side and northside of chicago .. There i elminated 9 potential pages of potholes. With 2 cracks on my front bumper, and 2 adjustments on my body kit. Pot Holes are a _____ !! Thank god my rims havent been damaged. But with the slopes, bumps, and drops. Lowered+bodykit= KAAAAPLLLUYYY !!
that railroad crossing on harlem and northwest highway SUCKS!!! i literally slow down to 5-10mph to go over em. rols is right though, the city is plagued with potholes.. best thing to do is memorize where the big ones are at and not speed in unfamiliar territory..
FWIW, the center lane northbound on the edens seems to be the smoothest.. southbound on the edens where it meets with the kennedy, avoid the center lane and ride the right one.

I know this thread is old news, but just wanna update the input I contributed here.
1. The railroad crossing on Harlem Ave near Northwest hwy/Harlem intersection is finally fixed after many years of neglect. Nice and smooth going over it at the posted spd limit.
2. The railroad crossing on northbound Cicero Ave near I-55 is really bad. No choice but to go over it at 5mph. The right lane seems to be less harsh, but still bumpy. I usually turn ON my 4 way flashers when going over these crazy railroad crossings slowly.
