Hey guys, I am thinking about creating subforums for the larger metro areas... that would allow better communication between people inside the metro areas and clear up the main regional area for people from outside the metro areas to chat.

Please answer the poll so I can get a clear idea of which members are inside and outside the metro areas.

Please reply to the topic with your thoughts of which metro areas deserve subforums and whether or not you think it would be a good idea.

What's wrong with breaking it up via states, rather than specified cities?

due to the large volume of chicago members posting on these forums, I believe that it would be worth while for Chicago to have a seperate forum. As it is now, we take up 75% of the posts in the GL forum. I know that this has been talked about amoung the guys that normally post up, and we have all felt that Chicago needed its own section.

while i agree that the regional forum needs a better organizational format, (maybe having a collapsable folder feature for events, etc.) - here in the Great Lakes area we have in the past, and continue to, support events held in others states by other groups/clubs/dealerships, etc.
it is this intrastate communication and support that, i believe, is a vital part of our Scion community. my concern is that breaking up the regions may inhibit this relationship from growing - and justs adds to the 'to do' list of reviewing yet another forum.

"Intrastate"

Definition- "Relating to or exisiting within the boundaries of a state"

My vocabulary grows every time I read an Avus post.

Sorry but I had to translate for those that speak at the 12th grade level.

I think we should keep the area in one big group it is exausting trying to find a post as it is. Much easier to find out whats going on in our area from one section.

As far as states go, there are many metro areas that bridge states so it would make it harder to share information. Here in Portland about 10-20% of the population is actually across the bridge in Vancouver WA. In the NE the states are so close together that it would cause horrible problems if we split the states up. Regional forums allow Scion owners from a larger area to share information and events.

The subforums would allow people from a specific location (such as Chicago) to communicate without interference from the other parts of the region, and would also make non-Chicago communication easier. For larger, non-Chicago-specific events or discussions the regional forum could still be used.

I don't want to break up the regions, it would just put a more focused area inside of the larger area for more relevant discussions.

Har har, I actually meant the size of the states are smaller. I'm not going to make any changes yet, just testing the waters.

i think that you should just leave it the way it is! its just something else that people have to look for.

i must add that this is one of the easiest fasted forums that ive been to. thats why im always on it! (as you can see
but adding another section just makes things a lil more confusing! the way it is is fine. when something is going on in another city we note that! its cool...

i say stay as is!

Oh I dunno... maybe cuz Chicago (for example) has about 95% of the population of Illinois.

And for said reason, Chi-town most definitely needs its own section. I'd imagine all the huge cities (which I like to refer to as City-states) would need their own section.

Were talking about scion life, not Scion Evolution. Besides we get greater attention from non-members in scionlife and not Scionevo.com. Scionevo chicago site is good for members and intrested members. Scion life can be good for seeking members.

But this is getting off topic, this isnt about scion evolution. Its about having our own section in scionlife. 99.9% of these damn topics in greatlakes consist of ILL(chicago) post's. And im sure if this does happen other states would be in ours rather then greatlakes because ours is so intresting

your right!
i concur.... there is a diff between SL and SE but most of chi is SE.... either way... this is SL...

a chicago section would be cool but then thats just another place i have to look. i like the fact that we are in one section..
by the way shouldnt it be CHANGED to MIDWEST and not GREATLAKES...

that one thing that should be done... St Louis is not a great lake state and i know that there is more. so thats one change that should go through.

MIDWEST
