Default This sucks BIGTIME!!!

I'm on my way to The Streets of Woodfield to hang out with some of the guys from SE-Chicago and of course, with all the luck I have with the suburban police depts., I get a friggin' ticket for not wearing my seatbelt. They have this STUPID checkpoint, right near the movie theater and as i was coming in, WHAM!...stupid Schaumburg police stop me! Pretty slick with their unmarked squad cars and patrol boy vests on. They take my license and now I have to go to court in 3 weeks, in Rolling Meadows...

Sorry Magic for not sticking around but I was pretty ____ed off!!!

Be careful if you decide to go to The Streets of Woodfield, them suburban cop bastards are out to get ya! Especially since there isn't any other way of making some revenue for their police dept...

So let me get this straight. Schaumburg cops are bastards because YOU forgot to put your seat belt on and got busted for it? I'm sorry, but you have a stupid sense of logic.

Thanks, it should be my choice since I wasn't on the main street BUT on mall property already, so I figure why wear it since the speed limit on the mall property is like 10 miles an hour, cause of all the people walking around.

How do I have a "stupid sense of logic"? I WAS DRIVING ON THE MALL PROPERTY, NOT ON THE MAIN STREETS LIKE HIGGINS OR GOLF ROAD, WHERE THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN BUSTING PEOPLE! I WAS GETTING READY TO LOOK FOR PARKING IN FRONT OF BIG BOWLS PARKING LOT WHEN THEY GOT ME, DO YOU GET IT NOW...that's why I'm ____ed off...I was on the mall property already, so it's my choice to wear it or not! C'mon dude, I can understand the highways or the main streets surrounding the mall BUT the mall parking lot...that's some bullschitt...

Whether or not you're on mall property or on a major street, you are required to wear your seat belt while the vehicle is in motion at ALL TIMES. It's not all too uncommon that accidents happen in a mall parking lot. Even low impact accidents can cause your body to move violently causing serious injury. You should be ____ed off at your own ignorance rather than the cops who were doing their job. You should thank the cops for teaching you a lesson.

Yeah, that's the part that sucks the most. See if your insurance company issues a bond card. I found that to be the most convienent way to not get your license taken away.

I'd hate to see another scion owner get ejected from their car because they forgot to put on their seat belt. I've seen my fair share of accidents and let me tell you, stepping on brain matter isn't that nice.

When i first read your topic i thought you were in a accident *thank god that wasnt the case*

We all know suburban cops can be d!cks more than chi-town cops. Thats why i hate meeting in the suburbs because cops are so strict !! But then again its still your fault for not wearing your seatbelt at all times considering more accidents happen less then 3 blocks from their destination.

First off that really sucks they took your license. That is asinine to say the least.

But I gots to say WTF? You drove to the mall, then took the belt off as soon as you got into the parking lot? Regardless, I do agree that seat belts should be a personal choice.

A mall parking lot is private property so in order for the police to have a checkpoint there, they needed to be invited by the mall. Chances are the mall called them up and asked them to set one up because they are sick of all the loitering in the parking lot. There have been times where I took me 10 minutes to get onto the parking lot from I290. They don't set up check points at random places all the time. Sometimes they place them in trouble spots. This is something to think about.

^^^That is what the cop told me. They were contracted by the mall to do these checkpoints. He also told me, "We're the Schaumburg Police and WE can enforce whatever we want!" That was the end of that I guess...

meeting in the suburbs or in Chicago, don't do anythng wrong and you won't be bothered at all. We gather in large numbers, we are doing something wrong in their eyes. this is post 9/11 America. They set up seatbelt checkpoints and you get caught not wearing yours, you are doing something wrong. I'm not saying you have to be a goody two shoes, but just don't do anyhting that could attract trouble. Like our incident in DG in the parking garage. Doing burnouts attracted the police and everyone said they were bastards. I told you guys not to do anything stupid. Two of us rolled out quiet and we didn't even get an eye batted at us. When we go out in big numbers, be quiet, keep the stereo down, don't drive dumb and wear your seatbelt. Cops won't bug us then. I think it's all common sense.

I want to know why we auto owners must wear seat belts but motorcyclist do not have to wear a helmet. (in ohio) just doesn't make sense.

seatbealts help me sit better. no seatbealt lets me be more relaxed. ummm.

lets start wearing seatbealts to get less tickets and give less revenue to the police dept.
