and an extension of this. My son will have to sit in a car seat until he is 8 years old or weighs a certain weight. But 2 days ago I saw a guy riding his motorcycle with a 4-6 year old boy hanging on the back. I have to throw my hands in the air on this one.

I'm not saying you have to be a goody two shoes, but just don't do anyhting that could attract trouble. Like our incident in DG in the parking garage. Doing burnouts attracted the police and everyone said they were bastards. I told you guys not to do anything stupid. Two of us rolled out quiet and we didn't even get an eye batted at us. When we go out in big numbers, be quiet, keep the stereo down, don't drive dumb and wear your seatbelt. Cops won't bug us then. I think it's all common sense.
Agreed...

I'm suprised people still go to Street... usually too many idoits out there that ruin people fun that just want to hang out and have a good time.

I use to hang out at the Hooters parking lot on wed nights, until they put a end to that by rolling in with 5 cars, we were the biggest group there, so we didn't scatter like some of the ricers there. The cops were cool about it, they saw that we didn't bolt out of there since it wasn't us that ever acted up... but they gave us a verbal warning to never come back because that lot was now off limits. About 6 months later, we headed out there for a meet and went to hooters, actually to eat at hooters, and the moment we left, and all headed out side, with in 5 minutes, the cops where there to make sure we were on our way and not "loitering"

I'm glad my club as a new location, one that is even sponsered by one of the mayors of one of the small suburbs around the chicagoland area.

As for the ticket, they can't give you a ticket if you aren't breaking the law... as much as some might not like it, for now, the law is "Click it or ticket"

It's strange how no one mentioned this....

Do you all recall the accident that happened RIGHT after the Elmhurst show? A YOUNG girl was driving on 290 or whatever it was, & something happened, the car flipped, & she was ejected from her car & died. Someone I know was one of the first people on the scene, & still has nightmares about seeing her all over the ground. And you know what? It could have been easily prevented. If she were JUST wearing her seatbelt, she would have been fine. Her car was in one piece, just basically upside-down.

I drove by a check-point like that once in Lemont. And honestly, I just laughed at every car that was told to pull into the parking lot to get a ticket. There was a LINE of cars not wearing their seatbelts.

It sucks it happened to YOU, & it is kinda weird they took your license. (Unless you had other tickets or something else on your record) But, long story short...

seatbelts = happy & safe drivers

Oh, & one more thing...Even if you are a safe driver, & you were just in a parking lot...

What happens if some DRUNK moron was flying around the mall & hit you? It wouldn't have been anything YOU did, but that jerk could have seriously hurt you, ESPECIALLY if you weren't wearing your seatbelt

Be careful of other drivers =)

I'm not going to preach to people who don't wear their seatbelt. I personally feel more comfortable with it on because I'm so used to it. It's like if you wear a watch every day and you forget to put it on in the morning...I feel naked without it...just like my seatbelt.

Something else to consider though. If you aren't wearing your seatbelt and have an accident, and even if you don't get ejected, maybe you're thrown into the passenger or back seat. It's pretty difficult to steer or brake from the back seat. If your belted in you still have a good chance of controlling your car to a stop and possibly avoiding additional impacts, like maybe a oncoming car or pedestrian. Just my .02
