I have an 07 Scion TC and I have recently ordered a Cold Air Intake, Performance header, 3" Catback Exhaust System, and lowering springs. I was thinking about going with a performance intake manifold but I wanted to know with all the changes would I need to upgrade my ECU as well? Are there any other mods you think could give me more WHP besides a turbo?

 

a 3" exhaust on a stock motor will kill your low end. You actually NEED backpressure. Yes, I do run straight exhaust on my racecar BUT, my power only comes on up high. Not very useable on the street. On tighter courses, I use a Supertrapp tuneable muffler with 9-15 discs.

You didn't mention brands. Please tell me you didn't go for ebay specials! Pay extra for name brands & You'll be glad you did!

 

Thanks for the info! I have an Injen cai & exhaust and a DC 4-2-1 header! I will be getting a full DC stroker kit, cam, springs & rods, injectors, ecu, and nitrous kit by fall from my Uncle as a wedding gift. We will spend the winter rebuilding the motor and tuning. Even though I won't be running boost, should I still get a performance intake manifold?
